JerseyWx
Looking at about 10 stations, the average is .40" of rain.
ag3
Pretty much the entire city is over an inch on OKX radar. I don't know how the stations were rather low. Maybe a dry layer close to the surface and radar beam is above it and overestimated precip that reached the ground?

dmillz25
Care to explain to the layman?I think it's cuz it's so cold aloft that the water droplets were freezing (hail) and was showing up on radar as heavy rain
forkyfork
Care to explain to the layman? melting ice in the anvil is more reflective than liquid water and shows up as heavier echoes

NJwx85
What happen to the .50-1.00 reports that you and yanks said where coming? Most areas had at least 0.50" even if some of the major stations fell a bit short. That's an interesting idea about the ice. I know that sometimes during a winter storm brighter echos show up from melting snow near the rain/snow line.
