WinterWxLuvr
Basically, you want a good updraft so the raindrop gets cycled a few times and grows by colliding with other raindrops. In some cases it could also be melted hail. Thanks. Would that updraft and recycling have to take place at a fairly low level? I was just thinking that a very large raindrop would likely split apart if it encountered a long period of air resistance.

EastCoast NPZ
Another day of full-sun all day long only to record a T from a shower that missed to my SE this evening. I did hear one clap of thunder from it. That was exciting. 85 /

dailylurker
As long as it's outta there by tomorrow morning. We need your area to heat up so it can juice the storms as they miss you to your east lol. It definitely feels more more humid out there. It's been a while since it felt like this. Temp is 75. I forgot to check the DP.

SomeguyfromTakomaPark
I always forget how unpleasant dew points in the low 70s are over winter. 1.5 mile dog walk and it looks like I just went for a run.
EastCoast NPZ
Line of showers out west is looking pretty thin ATM. My goal is to finally see something heaver than drizzle fall from the sky. If this thing splits and misses me, or drizzles, I swear to God.......
EastCoast NPZ
Finally, something other than drizzle! About 5 minutes of heavy rain, and 15 min. of light rain, even some thunder. First T-storm here since Feb.
Mrs.J
Well had a warned part of that line come through here. Just a big line of gusty downpours and nothing more. Move along nothing to see here...
mdhokie
Is the forecast high on wednesday of 71 legit? I feel like the cooler temps keep getting pushed back. Kinda like snowstorms in the winter, always day 3-4.
EastCoast NPZ
Is the forecast high on wednesday of 71 legit? I feel like the cooler temps keep getting pushed back. Kinda like snowstorms in the winter, always day 3-4. It's been there for several days now, and unlike every other day in the past 2+ weeks hasn't been getting bumped up a degree or two each day. Really looking forward to this. Hope it happens.

EastCoast NPZ
Thanks. Would that updraft and recycling have to take place at a fairly low level? I was just thinking that a very large raindrop would likely split apart if it encountered a long period of air resistance. I would think so, too. I would think you'd need low wind-shear also. Seems that you encounter big drops in tropical-type conditions: pop-up types that move very slowly.

biodhokie
pretty healthy cell entering northwest Montgomery. looks like it has a (small-sized) hail core I saw that cell on RS, I liked how the cell disintegrated as it crossed 270 and then picked right back up into a storm with what looks like a hail core again once it passed it.
