bluewave
Probably a top 5 driest June for parts of LI with only 1.13" at Islip this month. This is the 4th month in a row that many stations will come in with below normal precip.

It can be tricky going into the summer with an existing drought since convection is usually hit or miss around here. We will need a series of organized systems and some tropical help to break this drought pattern.

This is actually the driest March through June around here since 1995. The big story that year was the historic dry August. NYC set the record for driest August ever at only 0.18" and the 3rd driest calendar month on record. I can remember local small ponds drying up. winterwarlock
.64 in Ksmq my closest reporting station which is 15 miles to my north but based on radar observations in my back yard proper I probably saw under .5. nesussxwx
My tent was blown down, with minor flooding, worst that happened here. Summit/BH/New Providence area was hit hard as posted above. Over 1.5" reported in Western Union County, but in Eastern Union County, less than .40" was reported. (Relatvely small county)
Cyg
did anyone get damage from the possible tornado near new providence? Saw some tree service trucks around and some branches and tree debris around. Come to think of it, I do remember a point in the storm where the winds started blowing NW then back to NE. This also coincided with some transformer popping sounds, but no power outage by me. I'm also very close to Central & Livingston Ave, like within a half mile.

NJwx85
The 12z Euro continues the rainfall suppression pattern here for the next 10 days. It goes from 0.1 in NYC to +5.5 in Southern New Jersey. Look for an expansion of drought conditions around the area if it verifies this dry going into July. The 12z EPS mean is much less suppressed than the OP and looks more like the GFS and GGEM which are further North.

Hoosier
NPPD has some photos on FB of the microburst damage including a van that was flipped over. Given the radar and the damage, I'm surprised that was determined to be a microburst. Can't say I've heard of a van getting flipped on its roof in 70 mph non-tornadic winds. Rtd208
The 06z GFS continues the theme of wanted to bring precip. further north into our region early/middle of next week. Will it be right??..that is the question, not sure what the other models are showing on their latest model runs for that timeframe.
