Records dropping like flies in Arizona. Phoenix 2 degrees ahead already.

Death Valley (CA) currently coming in with 111 or 114 depending on which site you use which is several degrees cooler than Phoenix (AZ)

But here's the forecast for the Death Valley area...

Just noticed that the heat index was like 10° lower than the actual temp which is weird. I could understand it feeling hotter than it is when the Humidity is high, but how can it feel cooler than 120 when it's actually 120 lol?

Dry heat. DP in the low 30s.

Sweat evaporates more easily in dry conditions so it doesn't feel as hot.

Thanks, that's interesting. I was wondering if it had to do with the low humidity and DP, but I didn't think that would actually make it feel cooler, just not any hotter.
