hlcater
CAMs have been remarkably bad at depicting convection this week. I remember when the HRRR had a massive MCS in central KS yesterday , doing the same now. So I'm cautiously monitoring it but not too concerned yet
Chicago Storm
CAMs have been remarkably bad at depicting convection this week.Weak UL flow is one of the reasons. Almost always do bad in those situations.Today is a bit different though, with 50kt+ at 500mb nosing in later.

Today is a bit different though, with 50kt+ at 500mb nosing in later. Handling the immense instability poorly as well initiating way too early. Something to do with their mixing schemes most likely. Some CAMs also way too strong with cold pool dev
jojo762
Sitting here in Emporia KS right now... And my god it is steamy. Currently low 80s with a DP of 73. Strong SSE surface winds, and can see low-level clouds blasting slightly west of north.

jojo762
Might maybe see a PDS Watch later no? due to concerns over potential messy storm-modes, I'm not sure... Also because the last PDS watch busted for the same reason due to VBV (4/26)... But I wouldnt be surprised in the least, potential is certainly there for multiple strong, long-track tornadoes. 1900hurricane
Of course there would be a tornado within 15 minutes of where I live when I leave for a chase. Would be the ultimate irony if I see nothing today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chinook
tornado reported at Bryan/College Station. Edit: storm total rainfall is up to 5.5" several miles north of College Station (not sure how long that took... but 5.5" sounds like a flood to me.) EquusStorm
So KVNX appears to be down again. Radars seem to follow some twisted set of Murphy's laws at times like these.
janetjanet998
storms may have fired too early for maximum potential and are already eating up some of the instability, some places may still recover by evening though also storms look "grungy" likley from weak upper level winds(for now) and lack of directional shear in the lower levels on the ICT VAD and also the DDC VAD? TOP much better
