JTA66
12z NAM shows some storms moving through, the HRRR keeps them just to our immediate west. Looks like a nowcast/watching the radar kinda day.
JTA66
And the current radar would suggest the HRRR has a better idea.

If no storms materialize this weekend which looks fairly likely, it will be lights out for some stuff. 87.4 yesterday in NW Chesco. Looking for my second 90 of the season today. Was up hiking in the Trexlertown nature preserve yesterday the woods have a brown orange tint typical of September.
Birds~69
Without question it's the most uncomfortable night so far this summer. Air conditioners fill the air w/noise over-riding any critters at 11pm. Chief83
Compared to 1999 - We have a ways to go to get to the conditions in regard to summer grass/woods fires, but it is getting dry out with lawns looking pretty sad. Just driving around you can see some areas looking pretty green and others just brown. (obviously the result of localized showers). From today's PHL discussion: (This is the first reference I have seen so far this summer to the situation) .FIRE WEATHER... With rising temperatures and lowering dewpoints, relative humidity values are forecast to drop near 30 percent later today across portions of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and winds could gust in the low 20s. Summertime is not usually a period when we are concerned about fire weather, but we will contact our fire weather partners in NJ and PA to determine if any enhanced statements should be issued. Farther south across Delaware and Maryland, RH values are not expected to drop below 35-40 percent, so we have less concerns that far south. JTA66
85.1F/70 DP. Went out a little earlier to water the flowers and it was like hitting a wall the air felt so "thick". What I wouldn't give to be under a Winter Storm Warning right now!

ChescoWx
Still without a 90 in NW Chesco this year or heck now up to 3 years and 3 days since that mark! KMQS hit 89 yesterday but only 87.6 here yesterday....but alas today or certainly Monday may break the 3 year and 3 day string without a 90 here in NW Chesco. The Wxsim actually has a relative heat wave with 6 straight 90+ days starting today with a high of 90.2 - topping out on Monday at 95.6!! Now that would be remarkable as since I have been in this location I have only had 4 "heat waves" of 3 straight 90+ days. The last heat wave here ended this day back in 2011. I went back and analyzed the relative high elevation records for Chesco from 1983 to Present and found the range of 90+ days has run from a high of 36 back in 1999 to absolutely no such days in 3 years (2004/2014 and 2015). Overall we average 11 days with a 90+ reading per year with 10 of the 34 years having 5 or less such days / 21 years having less than 10 such days a summer. Only 5 years have recorded more than 20 days over 90. Currently up to 85.7 - let the streak be broken!!

Birds~69
94.8F / DP 64F Oddly enough today is like a Winter/January day w/high temps in the single digits for the simple fact no one is outside, garage doors are shut and zero noise. (besides A/C's) Just went to get the mail and utter silence/no people out like a ghost town.

Hurricane Agnes
Have been hovering in the 93 - 94F range for the past 3 hours. Went out early this morning and deep-watered my 'maters. But was just in the kitchen and heard what sounded like a "gurgling" sound outside, and then I looked out the window and saw water. Rain!! Coming down pretty heavy too. Have 0.1" so far in the past 10 minutes or so. That oughta make the steam bath a sauna!
Hurricane Agnes
Right up under a localized shower. Now the sun is out. That had dropped my temp about 8 degrees. Got almost 1/4" out of that shower!
