Ginx snewx
What was the total down on the reservation for today?day off. 7.2 at the house. Was down in your hood just as the lull ended with a 2 per hour bang, started mixed with a little sleet then boom. Several cars off of 6 then a kid was off of Snake Meadow. I stopped to help,he was ok, car not so much.

I will remember this as the double barrel commuter storm...It got people coming and going with a break in between.
powderfreak
I mean this event really had everything working against it (time of year, time of day, no real strong high to the north) and still got siggy ice. Probably at the tail end of the distribution for significant ice. Probably the 0.5-1.5" ice event around the Albany area with 12-18" of snow for GFL and RUT area in a long duration over-running event back in April 2003 is pretty similar to this one... we lost power in that one in my last year living at home with 0.5" ice and a couple inches of IP. I remember that fondly, probably like some on here will remember these past couple days.

We had our freshmen forecaster consensus going up against Will's senior forecaster consensus that semester. Heated battle. First time I learned how easy it was to get burned by a warm front around the Northeast. I think we rode MOS a little too hard and liked the idea of near 60. ITH never cracked 33. weathafella
When I left work after looking out at it from high up in the building all day I was astounded at how much snow fell and how "midwintry" it seemed. Juliancolton
Ended up with 5.2" today, with the last two days making April the snowiest month of the season imby. Saw my heaviest rates in a couple years this afternoon. I don't care that we're squarely in the middle of spring, or that the winter was a loathsome disaster... when the snow finally comes, I'm always thrilled to see it. Normally we forget shoveling but I have to clear a path as I'm not sure my snow guy is planning to come. Ended up speed shoveling. Long walkway, long sidewalk, driveway, path to back door, patio out back. I am contemplating getting back into shoveling myself next winter after I turn 70...lol. wxsniss
Wait until the weekend is resolved and then log off for the summer...not out of the question for one more event. Oh I know lol... don't forget I also prematurely signed off about 2 weeks ago with apparently good effect... Amazing drive home... tire tracks on side streets, plowed piles, the crunch under step...
