It only got down to 47 here.  Odd to see CLT and PGV that much cooler.  83 now.

PGV airport is in a bit of a low area right off the river, it radiates well and on the NE flow off the ocean in the spring we are often the "cold" end of the state. We barely got 70 for a high yesterday and today is the first time we have been over 70 in a week I bet.

41 currently, going for a 40+ degree temp swing today! Should top out in the 80-82 degree range!

Life in the desert!

Soared to 86 degrees, so that was a 45 degree rise from the low this morning!! Very impressive! Somebody posted CLT record change was 45 degrees, wonder if they made or beat that today, and what the record is at GSP ??

Charlotte had a 47 degree warmup thus breaking that record.

First official (KJNX) 90° degree day this year. Dewpoint is so low the heat index is 86!!! 16% humidity.

Kinda surprised there isn't a burn ban in effect, but I don't know the criteria for that being issued. Winds have gusted close to 20 this afternoon.

You can see the smoke from the Whipping Creek fire on the vis loop, winds veering east over night should push that mess inland, a shift to southerly winds will prevent any long term duration of that smoke though inland and hopefully some rain Thus-Sat will help get it under control.

The whipping creek fire has been a prevalent feature on the obx for yhd past few days. Up to 9600+ acres. US264 closed as well

now 14,000 acres and the wind will go east today and thats gonna push the smoke inland......hopefully the rain the next few days will slow it down....

Edit. ..walked out to go to work and it's smokey here already.
