mappy
Thanks, that actually seems warmer than the gfs. No snow I suppose. Dusting to 1" for NW areas Saturday morning into the afternoon. But temps are above freezing
BristowWx
Ok let's say for laughs we pretend surface temps don't matter...18z for Saturday from 06z on looks like it ratcheted up precip. There has to be some SN tv in those panels

I guess I'll root for it because thunderstorms are out of the picture for a while.

87storms
Never was a big fan of 40 degree weather. Anything between low 50s and upper 80s is my range. Looking forward to tomorrow.

WinterWxLuvr
If the GFS twins are right, it may be more than a car topper in some parts of the area.
dailylurker
I'd love a car topper. Lots of flowers blooming, trees are popping foliage, ect. Photo opportunities for all! Cold out there. Had to crank up the ole woodstove. Looks like about 38 according to weather bug.
high risk
NAM certainly looks interesting at the end of its run, with a ton of energy dropping into the backside of the trough and light precip overspreading the area.
EastCoast NPZ
Already down to 30F. DP at 19F. Should be a nice night. Suck it, flowers. You too, grass.
WEATHER53
Nothing like the smell of new mown grass and freezing temps. I just got back in. I left one tall patch and think I will mist that and see what it looks like.
WEATHER53
Back to back nights like this gotta be rough even on the hardy stuff? Its all fairly new growth or blooms.

I'm wondering how this will affect everything? This has been many hours in the 20's. Wondering if everything will just drop blooms or start to go dormant again? JW21
Down to 20 in Edinburg. I would think this has to be close to a record low for this date.

EastCoast NPZ
23.6F. Very impressive. Been below freezing for more than 8 hours. That should put a nice shock to all the greenery. Gorgeous morning out, clear skies, zero wind, crunchy grass. Makes me long for those late October mornings. Can't wait.

PrinceFrederickWx
Why do I bother gardening in this region? You can file this morning as exhibit A under "reasons why I can't wait to retire in CA". I spent so much time pre-treating apples and hydrangeas for disease, now all the foliage is dead. Lilac was about to bloom but it's been severely damaged. Flowering plum I planted earlier this season is under severe stress... basically everything is either dead, dropped its blooms or has very damaged foliage. It's a lot of time, effort and money spent on something that has a very low success rate (in this region, at least).

You have to factor in what grows here naturally. You can't expect to plant just anything you want and have it do well. I'm not saying that you are doing that. Kinda like trying to grow oranges....ain't gonna happen, lol. I think your apples will be ok though.
