SnoSki14
The gfs would be a solid snow event if it were a month ago. The system is energetic but there's now enough intensification for much accumulating snow and timing sucks. Record lows once it passes though, there's going to be vegetation damage from all this cold especially the further south you go.

Guest Pamela
......... and so it ends ......... RC your insight Is so very keen... But I fear I know Not what you mean.. Is it the end of the bad And the start of the good? Will happiness prevail And the days be bright? Or will the stars above Withhold their light? Many are the days I've lived in fear Of a fate too awful For any soul to bear Tell me words That will allay my worry And RC... brooklynwx99
I would focus on the changes aloft. They're pretty significant (although it's the NAM in its extended range). 18z 00z That closed low in Canada on the 18z isn't there on the 00z, which may have contributed to the better solution aloft. This time of year, at our latitude, you need a bombing low to really thump (heavy to very heavy precip rates) with dynamic cooling to get anything more than non accumulating white rain. The indirect sunlight is killer in April so those snow maps are very deceiving and extremely inaccurate. Plus, there will be boundary layer issues to boot. It isn't like you will have entrenched unmodified arctic air in place

However, the GFS looks great aloft with a closed 522 low S of LI.
