BxEngine
All of us that analyze model runs here were pretty much in agreement on Friday that this was a 3-6" coast, 2-4" event inland. And then we were all pretty much in agreement that it was a 1-3" coast, <1" inland by yesterday. The only posters humping the really snowy models were the ones living out on Long Island where the most snow fell by far, so I don't really see a problem with that. I know. EastonSN+
JFK with 0.5"...Newark with a Trace....Bridgeport with 2.0"....Islip with 2.3". Nice. 3 here in Easton. Bridgeport likely received 3 as we know they always under report by a lot.
Guest Pamela
Nice. 3 here in Easton. Bridgeport likely received 3 as we know they always under report by a lot. Plus they are out in the Long Island Sound...literally. Towns 5 miles inland probably average at least 5 inches more snow than Sikorsky Field annually. Guest Pamela
JFK with 0.5"...Newark with a Trace....Bridgeport with 2.0"....Islip with 2.3". Looks like they tacked on 2/10ths of an inch at Islip....now at 2.5" as of 8 AM. (The quoted amounts are 7 AM figures)

ag3
I believe the Central Park total is from 1am, unless I'm seeing an old update. I just drove from Wall Street to Queens. Almost all the areas in between had about 1", with higher amounts east.At work in Bayside (NE Queens), there is 1.4".

It's amazing isn't it? you can always count on BDR to be less... They are the central park of CT when it comes to measuring snow. They reported 7 or something ridiculous in the Jan Blizzard when the surrounding areas had 10-15.

Guest Pamela
Some may call it a turtle's race...but there is some drama for the LI snow crown. RU848789
M holly predicted less than an inch for me Up through Sunday morning, they had you in the 1-2" color on their snowfall maps. Yes, they reduced you down to <1" with their 4 pm package on Sunday, but to me that's way too late to "count," as the event was already underway. We've clearly come full circle then: Mean Annual Snowfall (1980-81 - 1989-90) Westbury (Nassau County): 25.44" Brookhaven Lab / Upton OKX: 25.41" LaGuardia Airport: 21.66" John F Kennedy Airport: 20.28" Central Park: 19.74"

They reported 7 or something ridiculous in the Jan Blizzard when the surrounding areas had 10-15. Believe me; their measurements are better than they once were....up to 2006...they had a tendency to under measure severely....it has gotten better over the last 10 years. Same circumstances applied at Islip...they have been fairly accurate since 2007. Both had long term averages prior to 2007 that were at least 5 to 7 inches removed from reality. Guest Pamela
UHI killed NYC....plus the L.E.'s did not amount to much anyway. The Big 3 (LGA, CPK, & JFK) never got below 32 F or 33 F. This is fine to allow snow to accumulate in the countryside...but given the previous warmth and the heat radiated from an urban environment...you have the formula for those three stations undoing. As the saying goes, "It happens every spring."

gravitylover
I didn't get out of bed early enough to get it before it started warming up but eyeballing it out the window I think I ended up right in between the 2" @ Danbury CT and the 1" @ Carmel NY. It looked so good with puffs of snow on the tree buds early this morning. Bring on spring!
