The death band over the jersey shore is just giant wet flakes.

It's colder on parts of Long Island where it is headed. Westhampton is currently 31° and Islip is 34°. Both areas will probably drop a few degrees once the steadier and heavier snow moves in. The winter storm warning may well verify across parts of Suffolk County if that area of snow expands.

Unfortunately, areas from the Jersey Shore across New York City into southwestern Connecticut appear likely to either miss the steadiest and heaviest snow or, as in the case of the Jersey Shore, lose a lot due to warmth and melting. Hopefully, if the modeled cold for the start of April verifies, there may be one more shot at an accumulating snow before spring sets in for good.

NWS in Philly just threw in the towel, saying most will get less than an inch and nobody is going to get more than an inch or so even near the coast. So, bustarama. We have 1/4" here and it's still snowing, but not heavily enough to accumulate much at 33F. Here's the update from a few minutes ago.  Crappy ending to a disappointing storm.  Oh well, at least I got to throw a few more snowballs tonight and to walk around in falling snow...

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THIS MORNING/...

HAVE DECREASED THE SNOWFALL TOTALS WITH THE 1230 AM UPDATE.

TEMPERATURES ARE STILL ABOVE FREEZING IN EASTERN PA EXCEPT FOR THE

SOUTHERN POCONOS WHERE THE TEMP-DEWPOINT SPREAD IS PREVENTING ANY

PRECIPITATION FROM FALLING. BASICALLY LITTLE OR NO ACCUMULATION

EXPECTED NORTH AND WEST OF I-95, WITH PERHAPS AN INCH OR SO

CLOSER TO THE COAST, BUT EVEN THERE SNOW WILL HAVE A DIFFICULT

TIME ACCUMULATING. THE ADVISORY WILL CONTINUE FOR NOW SINCE IT/S

ALREADY UP, BUT EXPECT THAT WILL COME DOWN WITH THE NEXT UPDATE AT

330 AM. NOT EVEN SURE IF THIS CAN BE CLASSIFIED AS A NUISANCE

EVENT SINCE VERY LITTLE SNOW IS STICKING OR ACCUMULATING ON ROAD

SURFACES.

35-40 DBZs in eastern 1/3 of LI. What an interesting storm! Moderate snow last 30 minutes in Kew gardens, Car tops have .5 an inch and grass white.

Gee, this alchemy stuff really works...
