Good agreement between the GFS and Euro on the 60KT LLJ max that

we be able to mix down to the surface in gusts early tomorrow. The GFS

and Euro are a few miles further north with this feature across the area

than the NAM.

I think its quite possible a few areas see winds gust up to 70 mph.

when the models show 60 kts in a sfc based mixed layer you take it seriously

Unless I was looking at it wrong earlier, the 925's look very similar to the 850's....which you rarely see with any system.

this will be a quick, dramatic event.  in-and-out. (like she says)

It will probably be around a 12 hour event with winds gusting over 45-50 mph with probably a 6 hour period of more intense winds that could gust over 60 mph.

There are not many W or NW wind events here with several hours gusting over 50.  I remember only a few real bad ones from that direction and I'm not sure either got over 50 for long.  There was one in November 1990 and another in October 2003.

I think it was veterans day 1990. Crazy windy all night long. Had to be gusts over 60-65

hah, I remember that October 2003 event vividly. it was during the Red Sox-Yankees ALCS, the day of the game that John Burkett started for the Red Sox.

I forgot that, I do remember the night before Sosa hit a game tying HR in the other series with 2 out in the 9th.

Wow that's damaging down there. They aren't used to winds like that

Nope, not that far inland and at the lower elevations.  You go into the Shen Valley, esp towards the ridges and you can get winds like that.  But definitely not in the DC metro.
