weatherguru
I see pockets of the big flakes but nothbing to serious really at all. Infact, I go outside and I see clear skies which is probably what I see over the lake.

janetjanet998
as cynavywx pointed out it seems that there is a disturbance around perhaps seeding some of this..DTX, GRR and DVN both show unrelated light snow this seems to be taking alot of people by surprise delta t's dont really support 3 inch per hour rates so they? also the fetch isn't along the greatest axis of the lake the bear game could be interesting again
weatherguru
I think the next band east of Wauckegan will effect central Cook next round.

I'm a little surprised it's this intense...was thinking more of a peak in the 1 to perhaps 2" per hour range.
cyclone77
I have no idea how good the RUC is for LES, but it keeps it ripping pretty good over these same areas through at least 8am.

Hoosier
You think Chicago will get in on this? Yeah, although it's hard to say exactly when. Obviously the farther north you are the sooner it will be. Could end up being a rather large gradient in Cook county...

cyclone77
Fu** I am so depressed right now and I am slightly drunk. The heaviest snow is languishing just north of you for now, but I'm sure it will eventually creep south later tonight. I'm sure at some point you'll get some very impressive snowfall rates. Hoosier
Yeah earlier on the common thinking was a long drawn out event.. This was definitely a surprise.. It still is especially by west side standards. Snow should be going for quite some time although in a general weakening state on Sunday.

weatherguru
Snow-band looks like its moving southward now. I should get hit by this intense band hopefully within the hr and man if I can get that band to stall over me through morning 1-3 inch per hr I am gonna over a foot to possible 2 feet if this doesent until Sunday night. Cook will likely go under warning soon to. Skilling did say heaviest will end being between ORD and Chicago which is where I am at.

I been saying this for a few days. If u remembe Alek doubting me. I don't think his skepticism was totally unwarranted considering the precedent for this type of outcome and the models showing a slightly more northerly component at that time.
