Looking really good. I think it may miss SE WI. Maybe extreme SE Kenosa may get hit by that 20-25dbz band but it looks to be aiming at Lake and Cook. If a more organized than progged band can set up for a prolong period of time into Sunday mid-morning, someone gonna get smooked in Lake, Cook and eastern Dupage Counties. I can see some areas easily getting over 6+ before all said and done.

Light lake effect snow right now. Ground already has dusting. Mixed in with ice pellets

btw, anyway I can get those maps? Are those free?

Really? That would imply the clouds are being formed/seeded above the inversion height, which is impossible with convective precip. like LES.

Unless you meant snow pellets? Ice pellets = PL = sleet.

I assume he's seeing snow pellets/grains, which is what I initially saw here in Kankakee when the first part of the band hit.

Man if it isnt one thing its another for us up this way :(

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DETROIT/PONTIAC MI

819 PM EST SAT DEC 25 2010

.UPDATE...

OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS...RADAR RETURNS HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY

DIMINISHED ACROSS SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN. THIS IS IN STARK CONTRAST TO

THE NAM...RUC AND EXPERIMENTAL WRF WHICH SUGGEST LAKE EFFECT

ACTIVITY OFF LAKE HURON SHOULD BE ONGOING AND RAMPING UP THIS

EVENING. THE 00Z DTX SOUNDING DID SHOW INVERSION HEIGHTS

SUPPORTIVE OF SOME LIGHT SNOW SHOWER ACTIVITY...WHICH WAS

EXPERIENCED ACROSS MOST OF THE FORECAST AREA TODAY. A LOOK AT THE

00Z APX SOUNDING HOWEVER SHOWS THE BASE OF A STRONG INVERSION AT

917MB /UNDER 2000 FT/. TO SAY THAT THE MODEL SOUNDINGS ARE MUCH

HIGHER AND WEAKER THAN THIS WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. REGIONAL

SATELLITE DATA FROM THIS AFTERNOON SUGGESTED THE PRESENCE OF SOME

WEAK MID LEVEL DEFORMATION...WHICH ALONG WITH THE DIURNAL

CONTRIBUTION LIKELY AIDED IN THE WIDESPREAD SNOW SHOWER ACTIVITY.

CURRENT INDICATIONS FROM SATELLITE SUGGEST SOME LARGE SCALE

SUBSIDENCE NOW OVERSPREADING LOWER MI. WITH THE BULK OF SURFACE

OBSERVATIONS ACROSS NORTHERN LOWER MI AND IN ONTARIO UPSTREAM OF

LAKE HURON SHOWING CEILINGS BELOW 2000 FT AND WITH NO STRONG

THERMAL ADVECTIONS TO LIFT INVERSIONS...THE PROSPECTS OF ANY

MEASURABLE SNOW TONIGHT LOOK BLEAK. THESE FACTORS WILL WARRANT A

SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN POPS TONIGHT AND THE REMOVAL OF SNOW

ACCUMULATIONS.

LARGE SCALE ASCENT AND THERMAL ADVECTIONS DO NOT LOOK TOO

SUPPORTIVE OF RAISING INVERSIONS SIGNIFICANTLY ON SUNDAY EITHER.

SO WILL ALSO UPDATE TO LOWER POPS AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS THROUGH

SUNDAY AFTERNOON AS WELL.

THE UPDATED GRIDS AND ZFPDTX WILL BE AVAILABLE SHORTLY.

I hope BowMe is getting in on that.

Barely and it will be out of here soon..

FOOK this winter.. My ass is sore enough from getting fooked over every event. And from sitting in front of this PC. Fooking thunderstorms coming next... Bet that don't miss me..Half of winter will be over and I'm sitting at 7" Wife been calling and sending pics all day of their drive down to florida.. Every fooking southern state has more snow on the ground than me.

IM DONE... Give me the least snowiest winter for all I care.

y'all to the south enjoy the big cotton balls falling for me.
