Central PA - Early/Mid December 2016

Just checking in from Colorado...experienced my second 18"+, and fifth 10"+ storm of the season Wednesday. Incredible storm out here. Looking forward to some warmer weather again though. Seems like you guys have been enjoying some early spring warmth.

A few pictures from midday Wednesday. Had 20" or so in 11 hours.

I don't remember if it was the 1984 storm or one even earlier (we're going back 30 plus years...lol), but it was opening day, and in Bethlehem, where I lived at the time, I think we had close to a foot of snow.

Edited to add that I did a Google search, and the year was 1982. That year, Philly got 3.5", NYC got 9.6", and Boston got 13.3". ABE, where I lived was 11.4".

The 12z Euro Op today had a CTP special for some late season snow early next week. It had around 6 inches for Harrisburg & 3 inches or so for most of the region to the north.

The 12 z Euro Control run had a I-80 special that showed about 10 inches of snow. It brought 3-5 inches to the LSV.

The 12z EPS mean has around 1 inch near the MD line & closer to 3 inches toward the NY border.

As Voyager showed earlier, we have gotten hit before in early April.

Maybe this El Niño will have a parting gift for us ?

According to the D6-7 Euro I should have about 100" for the season.

I was a junior in high school. Got 9" of wind-driven snow that drifted out back road shut. Unbelievable storm.

The 12z EPS ensemble mean continues to like the idea of snow next week for our region. The GFS & Canadian at 12z today also had a storm that hits us next Monday night & Tuesday.

For folks that love winter weather, this will be the last week that we can track storms for another 8 months. Although it is very tough to get April snow, especially in the LSV, it would be a heck of a way to send us out this year.
