bowtie`
First image of the year. Taken Saturday evening. Can not get home from work and outside till after sunset still yet. But there was some wispy's out and after a three month lay-off it was good to be behind the camera again. As usual will be deleting the 2015 thread to make room for these images. bowtie`
Awesome shots! Where exactly is this located? Thanks. Central Indiana, about 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis. At a retention pond right beside I-65.
bowtie`
I have been slacking as far as atmospherics images. Almost been a month since my last ones. Guess I better remedy that. This was from today after work. There was a slight breeze ruffling the water, that and wayward geese plus pesky muskrat. So the reflection images are not perfect. bowtie`
Almost been another month since this was last revisited. About time to make a foray out to the retention pond again. Approaching systems do not give the best sunsets but this one was decent enough. At least this time I remembered the six image average, when the geese messed up the water this time. bowtie`
Needed a bit more clearing to the west of me to make this evenings sunset a bit better.
bowtie`
I had hoped that the colors would take off at sunset tonight. I guessed wrong... A bit later had an inverted busted zipper looking sky...
bowtie`
A tad chilly for the sunset tonight...

bowtie`
Sometimes approaching systems can give a decent sunset. All depends on the timing. Here is what I started with at local sunset. Nothing real special... But a bit later as the reds came on, it really took off. The first decent color and relatively still evening...
bowtie`
Not much as far as color but it was a relatively still evening...
bowtie`
Had a great sunset this evening... Local sunset. Does not look like much but this is what I started with. Here comes a little bit of color. Majestic time. Royal blues, reds and yellows...

bowtie`
After dinner, I noticed some clouds hanging around, so I headed out to the retention pond in case it got interesting. Looking east and up when I got to the pond. Up because at 16mm the cloud at the top was basically straight overhead. The view west when I got there. Nothing special but it does show what piqued my interest. Max dynamics. Calmed down a little bit but not quite still. The last of the color leaving the sky. Say goodnight Gracie. bowtie`
The storms of the afternoon departed the area around sunset. So I could only get cloud shots facing the southeast at sunset. Yellow and orange... Orange and red...

bowtie`
Last image of the Spring clouds. Pre-storms from the early afternoon. Does it look hot and humid? It was. First image of Summer clouds. Post storm. Was hoping for a rainbow but all I could get was the backside of the receding build-up.
bowtie`
This first image is from yesterday, around noon. I was on my way back from the camera shop when I ran across this oat field. I have tried to get an oat /cloud field image for a number of years now. The green of oats is so vivid and unique that I knew it would make for a good combo. Finally got a decent combo of field/sun/cloud orientation. This was the local sunset this evening... Once the sun set, the dry air started winning and I only ended up with these two clouds left for the orange flash...

bowtie`
A nice evening for sunset watching. Perfect temps. Nothing special, but some wispy clouds. It might have been a tad breezy and that kind of messed up any attempts at reflection images. But over-all I still would give it a steady 8.75. Local sunset... Red flash... Post post sunset and kind of a funky green cast on the right side of this image. I wonder if there was a green flash but with my horizon being blocked maybe I could not see it.
