Any time of the year!!! There are some INSANE SUPER CELLS DOWN THERE RIGHT NOW

I don't think I have ever seen a tornado warning that big anywhere

And even DC is about to rocked!!!

Just read that NWS Raleigh has issued 19 tornado warnings for their CWA today. Some of the tornado warned storms just south of DC did not appear to have rotation based on radar, but clearly strong winds and hail.

Are instability parameters similar in NJ and NYC area fur these cells to remain as potent?

Not as impressive, but still up there. Looks like there's a window of a few hours before things settle down. That storm in south Jersey is impressive and racing north. The line over the MA seems to be bowing a bit, but I don't know how far it will make it towards our area before weakening as it seems to be moving NNE.

It was moving more to the NE but is moving straight north now likely headed for western jersey

Moving N at 65 mph! Looks like 60+ mph winds on radar. Winds looked even stronger when it was over Delaware. Moving over the cooler water might have weakened it a bit.

Headed right for my backyard.

Let us know what happens if it does hit your area.

Wow this is unreal for February. Hopefully that line survives as it moves north.

We will be getting our watch soon.

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0152

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

0546 PM CST WED FEB 24 2016

AREAS AFFECTED...PORTIONS OF EASTERN PA...NRN NJ...SERN NY...AND CT

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH LIKELY

VALID 242346Z - 250145Z

PROBABILITY OF WATCH ISSUANCE...80 PERCENT

SUMMARY...A BAND OF STRONG TO POTENTIALLY SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL

PUSH EAST THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS...WITH THE PRIMARY THREAT BEING

DAMAGING WINDS. A BRIEF TORNADO OR TWO MAY BE POSSIBLE AS WELL. WW

ISSUANCE IS LIKELY.

DISCUSSION...THE LATEST REGIONAL RADAR MOSAIC DEPICTS A

CONSOLIDATING BAND OF THUNDERSTORMS PUSHING EASTWARD ACROSS

CENTRAL/EASTERN PA. TEMPS TO THE EAST OF THIS LINE HAVE RISEN INTO

THE LOWER 60S ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL/NRN NJ...AS INCREASING SLY

FLOW SUPPORTS POLEWARD THERMAL/MOISTURE ADVECTION. AS THIS

OCCURS...THE NEAR-SFC STABLE LAYER SHOULD WEAKEN SUFFICIENTLY IN

SPOTS...SUCH THAT INCREASINGLY FORCED CONVECTION WILL LIKELY FAVOR

POCKETS OF WIND DAMAGE...DEPENDENT UPON HOW FAR NORTH THIS

DESTABILIZATION OCCURS. FURTHERMORE...VWP DATA TO THE EAST OF THIS

LINE SAMPLE VERY STRONG SLY FLOW /APPROX 65-75 KTS/ AROUND 1-3 KM

ABOVE THE SFC...SUGGESTING A POTENTIAL WIND THREAT. AS SUCH...THE

POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WINDS MAY INCREASE ACROSS THE MCD AREA OVER

THE NEXT FEW HOURS. A BRIEF TORNADO OR TWO WILL ALSO BE

POSSIBLE...CONSIDERING THE PRESENCE OF AMPLE SRH AS INDICATED BY

KDIX VWP DATA. WW ISSUANCE IS LIKELY WITHIN THE NEXT HOUR.

We have a legit severe weather threat and the best rains fall tonight.

That line in PA is quite firece. It's up to 60 here in northern NJ so the warm front has cleared. No reason to think the severe threat won't advance northward. Extremely impressive for February.
