CapturedNature
Just drove over the mountain in Stafford down rt 190 towards Somers. Unless my eyes deceived me in the darkness, it looked like something significant occurred as there is a narrow gap of trees down through the woods perpendicular to the road. Possible microburst? State police, utilities, and Fox61 news truck were there filming. Power is out in both parts of Stafford and Somers. I live in Stafford and my sugarhouse is in North Somers and I saw a couple of powerlines down and outside of the center of town, things looked dark north of there. Yukon Cornelius
Intense storm last night. The wind was ferocious. Only wish it happened in the day time so that I could've seen what the hell was going on.
weathafella
Best severe if the year including the upcoming summer overnight. Not often to have it that loud and wild in February.

Brian5671
Wildest storm in years here. Lots of trees and branches down. Schools on here, but many are closed due to blocked roads, lines down no power etc. Tried to get video, but too dark and dangerous to go outside. Euro shows cutter next week, let's do it again! Baroclinic Zone
Agree...One of the mets on Twitter was saying that the thunder was louder and lasted longer because of the lack of foliage on the tress to dampen it. Not sure about that, but it definitely sounded different than a summer storm. What a night though. Tough to sleep. Could definitely hear tress snapping and falling in he woods behind my house. Never lost poer though (good job Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant) TMLP phail. Power is out at home. 2nd time this year. I was up from about 3-5AM. Dog could not sleep with the freight train winds blowing and the debris it picked up being blown around, Trash day FTMFL. I was wise and did not put anything out. OceanStWx
MUCAPE was probably underforecast by models by at least a factor of 2. Getting some actual MLCAPE into CT really helped in getting a severe threat in there, besides your run of the mill precip loading.

OceanStWx
Poor Wiz, it's too bad this is probably going to be the best event CT sees all year. Might as well fire up the May 1, 2017 thread now.

weatherwiz
If wind shear wasn't as strong or we had higher cape some of those cels ahead of the main like may have ended up with stronger rotation and perhaps the threat for a TOR

Hoth
What an awesome event. Incredible fireworks in the early AM. I'm already calling for a Wiz melt in July, when this remains by far the best event of the severe season.
HoarfrostHubb
Probably more due to inversion to be honest. I thought the opposite. I could see close strikes with thunder not too loud, and strikes maybe a few miles away that sounded like it was in my back yard. That's usually due to ducting from temp inversion. I was thinking something like that was the reason
CapturedNature
72K power out in CT right now My parents are without power in Somers where my sugarhouse is. Several trees and powerlines were down getting here. You can see them on the storm damage report along with road closures almost all around me. Ashford is almost 100% out. Eversource changed the reporting on their map to reflect customers without power as opposed to percentage without power so it doesn't look as bad, particularly with the small towns in eastern CT.
