ag3
Good rates right now. Might be able to get to 1.5" Looking at radar, I think someone on LI will jackpot for our area. Nice heavy band is coming into the south shore right now.
snowman19
Clouds are thinning out up in Sloatsburg, ceilings are lifting and the sun is just starting to peak through. Shouldn't be much longer up here before the light snow ends.
bluewave
Unbelievable extremes continue. Pretty cool that we were able to sneak the first below zero since 1994 into the mix of extremes.
MJO812
Pretty cool that we were able to sneak the first below zero since 1994 into the mix of extremes. That was really surprising. Who would have thought that at the start of the winter?
SnoSki14
Pretty cool that we were able to sneak the first below zero since 1994 into the mix of extremes. Definitely didn't see that coming. So tack on the second biggest snowstorm on record, a 13+ December, the second warmest winter on record, a below zero temperature reading, and a 40" winter. What are the odds of that? bluewave
That was really surprising. Who would have thought that at the start of the winter? Even more impressive after a +13 December. And despite the fact that last February 23.9 vs 37.7 this year.

So tack on the second biggest snowstorm on record, a 13+ December, the second warmest winter on record, a below zero temperature reading, and a 40" winter. What are the odds of that? I guess the odds go way up when you add a record NE PAC SST blob...Record El Nino into R4...record warm Arctic and kara block building back across the pole...record warm Atlantic ssts..most active MJO for such a strong El Nino. This was the first winter that all those factors occurred together. So no previous winter had a chance to do what we did this year.
