Superstorm93
as I posted a couple of pours ago almost unidirectional winds(not much turning) in that area as further east
Stebaney
Still no clearing yet in Raleigh and it's not going to happen. Too many upstream showers developing. I am assuming you mean 'clearing' is literally clearing out of clouds. If so, it has been very sunny today in K'dale. Right now I see more pretty blue sky than I do anything else. It is soupy hot though. High humidity

shaggy
Unsure if that was on the ground Veronica, it clipped the west and north side of town. It was pretty intense over here in bell arthur. Thought I just heard with say they were reporting some power lines down and some minor damage
Dunkman
There isn't a lot to this western line right now. Few rumbles of thunder, reasonably heavy rain and moderate wind gusts. I'm sure it'll be much more potent by the time it hits the Triangle.
Jet Stream Rider
Wow! Amazing images Superstorm93 and reports from WeatherNC and Shaggy. Possibly the precip in the east will help to stabilize the atmosphere some at least before that line out west pulls through.
fountainguy97
My dad got caught by dowdy ficklen. Right when he was there the 1.5 tilt was reading 85-95mph winds. He said that he watched as the water on the road literally was blown off the road and into the air. Said it slacked off then absolutely blasted and his ears popped extremely hard. Right now I see more pretty blue sky than I do anything else. It is soupy hot though. High humidity Yeah, the soupy hot feel is a good surface tell for storms. By clearing I was kinda thinking of partly cloudy....at least allowing for more than the occasional glimpse of sunshine.
Superstorm93
Another view They need to feed off of the better lift/shear to the east Main threat from these right now are gusty winds and maybe some hail.

I think it is a bit more scary understanding these weather patterns and knowing much more than I did in 2011. I prefer blind ignorance.

shaggy
Hearing some reports of downed power polls from co-workers, 903 area Tractor trailer blown off highway 70 between kinston and la grange. Was thinking of riding up the road and checking for damage. Can't see anything out the window that says we got hit directly but we were clearly in the rotation. NCsandhills
Sun has been shining g for the past hour straight in RTP on the Durham/Wake line, save for the past 10 minutes. Humid out but really still feels quite nice with the light breeze. Still blue patches. Clouds are racing.
downeastnc
had to internally evacuate here at work, rotation came really close to us but may have stayed just west of me, several trees down outside but I don't think there was a actual tornado but winds had to have been up there......now we bring the plant back up and wait and see what door #2 has behind it in a few hrs.... Solak
Duke outages up over 72K now. Temps here have reached the low 70's. Breezy more so than windy. Gusts probably up to 30 at times.
jburns
Line is just finishing passing through here. Quick burst of rain, a thunderclap or two and it was over. Winds have been blowing at a good clip for several hours. It didn't seem to blow any harder during the passage. Sky already very bright to the west.
