downeastnc
70 over 68 here gusting into the 30's.........starting to feel a lot like April 2011 minus the haze from all the pollen, it was cloudy that morning too until 10-12 then it cleared out to filtered sunshine.....the winds where stronger though gusting well into the 50's before the storms ever got here so I doubt we get that bad this time around but I have no doubt we see mature long lasting tornadic supercells today... Solak
I'm a little concerned about all these early school dismissals. I don't know about other areas, but here in JoCo, some of the bus routes are rather lengthy. I hope their timing of the release works well with the potential incoming weather. It does seem to be very similar. Already clearing to the west in Greensboro. I think the rain this morning will just increase the instability for this afternoon. Cold Rain
The 14z HRRR (thanks for the links everyone) doesn't look nearly as scary with the CAPE or the Sig Tornado Paramater as the 13z.

Ketch
Everything seems to be shutting down by 1pm today here in Wilmington. Including bus service. It also has that "soupy" kinda feeling when you walk outside. The rain we got at daybreak didn't help.
Cold Rain
[an error occurred while processing this directive] SUMMARY...AT LEAST SOME TORNADO RISK SHOULD BEGIN TO INCREASE THROUGH LATE MORNING/MIDDAY...INITIALLY ACROSS THE WESTERN/UPSTATE PORTIONS OF THE CAROLINAS. ONE OR MORE TORNADO WATCHES ARE LIKELY ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE REGION BY MIDDAY FOR WHAT COULD BE A REGIONAL TORNADO OUTBREAK THIS AFTERNOON. REGARDING THE 1630Z DAY 1 OUTLOOK UPDATE...CURRENT THINKING IS THAT THE PEAK SEVERE PROBABILITIES /INCLUDING STRONG TORNADO RISK/ ARE LIKELY TO BE SHIFTED WESTWARD ACROSS THE PIEDMONT OF NC/SOUTHERN VA. DISCUSSION...A DEEP CYCLONE CURRENTLY FEATURING A 986 MB SURFACE LOW OVER THE TN VALLEY/LOWER OH RIVER VALLEY WILL CONTINUE TO SHIFT NORTHEASTWARD...WITH A STRENGTHENING CYCLONIC MID/UPPER-LEVEL JET EXTENDING ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST STATES/CAROLINAS. IN THE WAKE OF THICKER CLOUD COVER/CONVECTION CURRENTLY ACROSS THE COASTAL PLAIN...ADDITIONAL BANDS OF SEMI-DISCRETE CONVECTION HAVE BEGIN TO INCREASE ACROSS WESTERN PORTIONS OF NC/SC. WITH DIMINISHING CLOUD COVER IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MID-LEVEL DRY SLOT...THIS CONVECTION SHOULD CONTINUE TO GRADUALLY MATURE/INTENSIFY AND BECOME INCREASINGLY SURFACE-BASED AS IT OTHERWISE RACES NORTHEASTWARD WITHIN A HIGHLY SHEARED ENVIRONMENT. ACCORDINGLY...AT LEAST SOME TORNADO RISK COULD EXIST LATE THIS MORNING ACROSS WESTERN/UPSTATE AREAS...WITH A MORE CERTAIN/ROBUST TORNADO RISK...INCLUDING THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG TORNADOES...DEVELOPING ACROSS THE PIEDMONT OF NC INTO SOUTH-CENTRAL/EAST-CENTRAL VA THIS AFTERNOON. THIS WILL BE NEAR AND SOUTHEAST OF THE ERODING WEDGE FRONT/EFFECTIVE WARM FRONT WHERE ROBUST LOW-LEVEL/DEEP-LAYER SHEAR WILL BE CONDUCIVE FOR STRONG TORNADOES. jburns
I get your point but still, our area will most likely see the least impact from this. As I said earlier, it was too early to assume anything. The wedge has eroded I am now at 62º with sunshine. I have a gut feeling there will be plenty of severe weather to go around.
