Jmister
Hey kids! Are you tired of those radar hallucinations making you wonder if that precip was supposed to be THAT far north yet?! Frustrated when switching tabs between simulated radar and observed radar because the grids are not identical? Well read on!! Introducing the radar comparison experiment! The tool that generates identical grids of near real-time radar and simulated radar from HRRR and NAM 4km and shows you the quantitative difference between them! I welcome any suggestions and comments as I continue to build this tool! Mallow
Very cool! You comparing composite reflectivity for both the simulated and observed?
thewxmann
Lots of potential in this, looking forward to more especially in the severe wx season.
Jmister
Very cool! You comparing composite reflectivity for both the simulated and observed? The modeled radar data is reflectivity at 1000 m. I am pretty sure the observed mosaic radar is composite 0.5 degree reflectivity but am not 100% on that. Thoughts on expanding to compare current radar to older runs of NAM and HRRR? Any other sources to compare?
Ellinwood
This is pretty neat. Love what you have already... looking forward to seeing what else you'll put up. I see you have already made a Northeast sub-region. I imagine that other sub-regions (like north-central and south-central U.S.) would also be greatly beneficial.
