It's just plain ugly out there.  2-2.5" of snow, 20 minutes of heavy sleet and now it's raining the coldest rain I've seen in a long time at 22*.  I went to take the garbage out and decided to push some off so it's not a thick white block of ice in the morning.  Within 30 seconds the whole thing turned into a skating rink.  So now instead of a thick block of ice I'll have a thin sheet.  Nice  :tomato:

RAIN ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EST TUESDAY. THE

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

* LOCATIONS...FROM CHESTER COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA UP ALONG INTERSTATE

78 TO ABOUT INTERSTATE 80 THROUGH EAST CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA AND

NORTH CENTRAL NEW JERSEY.

* PRECIPITATION TYPE...FREEZING RAIN.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...AROUND A TENTH OF AN INCH. LOCALLY HIGHER

AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE MID 20S STEADILY RISING INTO THE LOWER 30S

AROUND 2 AM.

* TIMING...INTERMITTENT FREEZING RAIN SHOULD CHANGE TO NON FREEZING

RAIN AROUND 2 AM. ITS STILL POSSIBLE THE CHANGE TO NON FREEZING

RAIN MAY BE DELAYED IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY AND BERKS COUNTY OF

EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA AS WELL AS WARREN COUNTY IN NORTHWEST NEW

JERSEY UNTIL ABOUT 4 OR 5 AM.

* IMPACTS...A GLAZE OF FREEZING RAIN FALLING ON TOP OF THE SNOW IS

MAKING FOR VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. EVEN AFTER AIR TEMPERATURES

Could that have frozen implications for NW NJ and the catskills?

Unfortunately no.  The primary low center heads to Montreal.  There is an area of lower pressure extending south from the primary low, but there is no distinct redevelopment.  The mid-levels tell the tale.  This is a rainer tomorrow.

Uncle said we have until Feb15th for a shot at Central Park getting 30 inches in 30 days. I believe Central Park is now at 31.2. Another metric to judge this extreme winter!
