Stormpc
The leading edge of this next batch is NOT snow. It's sleet and freezing rain, albeit light. Down here at least. By the time it gets to DCA it may be the same. Better luck NW areas. It's a wrap. 5 inch total.
Scarlet Pimpernel
This isn't even a complicated storm to measure. I feel like they are passive-aggressively retaliating for all the Blizzard push back. I mean, I am near downtown DC and have 3.5", and that is depth. I never swept or anything. So there is some compaction. Yeah, no kidding. Much easier to measure than the blizzard, as there is almost literally no wind out there now. I still do not understand their blizzard total. There was a 19" report about a mile west of there, and there were FOUR reports of over 20" within the District itself (and not just the more elevated northwest areas). So DCA is apparently not the most representative at best, and possibly poorly/negligently measured at worst, it appears...seems to be the case in many of the more historical-level events, as those receive more attention. As for the current event...3.2" here, as of about 1:30ish PM. Pretty much stopped right now, I guess the sleet and ice is next a bit later on. Jebman
Here comes the next area of precip. Will it be snow or ZR? Soon, it'll be time to get out there and SLIDE........
Scarlet Pimpernel
Couldn't decide the right play so just went ahead and shoveled. It will get really icy for sure because surfaces are very cold. But it should be easier to deal with once temps go above freezing. Still lightly snowing. I have 2.9". I can't seem to crack 3. Maybe with a burst before the flip. Maybe you can squeeze a tenth of an inch from the light snow before it stops (or slant-stick it just a tad!). WxUSAF
It's a very wintry scene out there. It only took me 20 minutes to shovel because it was so fluffy. I thought it was pretty cool that the needles falling dusted everything back up by the time I went inside. Looks like the leading edge of the next round "should" be snow. I just want to bank 3". How much did you get? BWI had 2" at 1pm. Can you throw a party with your $10K? I'll clear my schedule.
Jebman
We have freezing drizzle. FZDZ is one of the most challenging, and dangerous, winter precip types. It gets on everything. You gotta be very careful when you venture out. Lots of times you can't see this thin ice layer, and down you go.
PhineasC
Depends how you define meaningful ice. I've had a quarter inch or more of ice three times in the last two years. No one is saying this will cause mass power outages or cripple travel. Like, on your railings or something? There has not been .25" of ice or more on the roads across the area in a while. Scarlet Pimpernel
BWI had 2" at 1pm. Can you throw a party with your $10K? I'll clear my schedule. He should invest it in a 50/50 low and blocking for later this month...money well spent, and the returns are great!
Herb@MAWS
Just shoveled and took measurement. 2.5" on average. Temp has fallen in last hour from 25.2 to 24.8 with S-- ongoing.
Bob Chill
BWI had 2" at 1pm. Can you throw a party with your $10K? I'll clear my schedule. Strippers and tequila at 9pm. Better clear tomorrow's schedule too.

By the time it gets to DCA it may be the same. Better luck NW areas. It's a wrap. 5 inch total. It'll change quick if not at the start. Compacting pretty quick.. fluff. Back below 3" here. Hmmm...tough call between that and using it to buy a 50/50 low....what to do? Why not both? (ETA: Change that tequila to a good single malt Scotch and I'm there, haha!) WEATHER53
3" here and the arctic beast is still at 30.32 and that's snow for DC. Probably going to have to fall to 30.1 before we are mostly not snow

Joshfsu123
Flurries just started again... 26/26... 3.8 inches (cleared off measuring area during break just in case we get a little more snow before the sleet, which seems possible).
hosj III
Like, on your railings or something? There has not been .25" of ice or more on the roads across the area in a while. March 1st last year got pretty close. Maybe not on roads but definitely on sidewalks and on my driveway.
WEATHER53
I agree. they have to be trolling at this point. Every single storm is a laughable measurement. The complete story has not yet been told but it's getting there. How much have they reported?

smokeybandit
Just drove from Woodlawn to Odenton. Other than one stretch of the beltway around 95, roads were perfectly fine. Still several accidents though
WEATHER53
DCA 2.6" at 1pm...lol...It's actually borderline negligent that LWX doesn't do something about this. I am not seeming so crazy about their issues recently Huh?
