In some ways this is kind of two systems.. know we're anticipating break but the main wave for the low that turns to rain is not what's causing the snow now.

Yep. Saw this coming on Thursday.    :)

Car top, tops of fence and bushes where dead leaves collected and the driveway and sidewalks all turning white. Steady snow. Flakes getting bigger and falling steadily.

The reason that the road is not caving is that the VDOT put down those damned abrasives!

I dont need traction. I can jebwalk in ANY road conditions.

Looks like it needs about 20-30 min for any low level dry air to get saturated.

Basically as soon as we got to about 20dbz (or any real color on Radarscope) it picked up enough to stick. Before that it was --sn of tiny flakes.

That high is very tough and not only is it not off coast of Maine and rapidly moving away, it's over western Maine and still pressing down. Gotta get those darker echos further north but bit of a non warm fly in the ointment right now

The high is actually west of that per SPC mesoanalysis. Stretched from about eastern NY down the coast to this area.

But, it's basically exactly where forecast. Just not much indication it would be precipitating this early from the globals at the least.
