John1122
MRX also has rising temps overnight in most areas. The high today is now listed as lower than the low over night.

Runman292
David is saying snow is possible tomorrow morning in the valley, but amounts will be anywhere from 0.0-0.5 of an inch. Higher amounts possible in the usual northern counties, Plateau, and Mountains.

Math/Met
Yep...incredible amounts of water stored in the "snowpack." Also, did we get an update on high wind potential? I know it was mentioned last night on a local news outlet up here...I think. Also, for those of you new to the board. Mathmet made an appearance last night. He is a met who is very knowledgeable about mountain wave events, specifically, the Camp Creek are in Greeneville. Thanks. The high winds tonight will depend on how far north the strongest 850mb winds get it into East TN. If everything comes together, then this event has a very high ceiling in terms of how strong the wind gusts could become.
John1122
Temp has fallen here since dark, back to 32. Once upper level warming stops and the winds shift to NW I'd think some cold air will work back into the upper levels.
Carvers Gap
Thanks. The high winds tonight will depend on how far north the strongest 850mb winds get it into East TN. If everything comes together, then this event has a very high ceiling in terms of how strong the wind gusts could become. Saw that MRX has High Wind Warnings for the mountains. With the ground saturated, I hope it stays at the higher elevations. Thanks for the post. Keep us updated if they get any big gusts. I will try to check the Camp Creek obs tonight. Carvers Gap
A bit simplistic(iphone), but the downslope is very evident against the Apps. For those in foothills communities today, you know how much warmer it was compared to the rest of the Valley. Just like a chinook.

Carvers Gap
Current surface analysis from spc. Great site that I use to verify if actual surface conditions match model output...especially for you northern Plateau folks looking for some backside snow. Need to know where that slp is. ShawnEastTN
I'm just amazed at how entrenched the cold has been especially in the valley along and right next to the Plateau. Stations currently near me are all still a degree or 2 above freezing. Had to check to make sure mine was reading correctly, with hearing all the reports of warming. As it gets east of any given area any Southerly component should end. Right now winds are N in Clarksville for instance.
