I got a question for the weather gurus on here. Are any of the models showing the precipitation starting as a mix of rain and snow on Sunday afternoon in the Central Valley? That's what MRX's Special Weather Statement is saying.

...MIXED WINTRY PRECIPITATION EXPECTED SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY

MORNING...

A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN FALLING ACROSS THE

SOUTHERN CUMBERLAND PLATEAU...THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN TENNESSEE

VALLEY...AND SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA BEGINNING SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

THE MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THIS AREA THROUGH THE

EVENING. AFTER MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY NIGHT...WARM AIR ABOVE THE

SURFACE WILL MOVE IN...WHICH WILL LIKELY PRODUCE A MIX OF

RAIN...SNOW...AND SLEET...WITH PATCHY FREEZING RAIN POSSIBLE IN

SOME LOCATIONS. THE MIXED PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE OVER

TO ALL RAIN THROUGH MONDAY MORNING.

AT THIS TIME...THE GREATER KNOXVILLE AREA...SOUTHERN CUMBERLAND

PLATEAU...AND HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA COULD

SEE UP TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATION...WITH A LIGHT

GLAZE OF ICE POSSIBLE IN SOME LOCATIONS. THE CHATTANOOGA AREA IS

EXPECTED TO SEE LITTLE TO NO SNOW OR ICE ACCUMULATION AS

TEMPERATURES AT THE GROUND SHOULD REMAIN AT OR ABOVE FREEZING.

HOWEVER...SLIGHT CHANGES IN THE DURATION AND TIMING OF EACH TYPE OF

PRECIPITATION WILL GREATLY IMPACT THE ACCUMULATION AMOUNTS.

ANY ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW OR OTHER WINTRY PRECIPITATION ARE

EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT. HOWEVER...DRIVING AND WALKING MAY BE

DIFFICULT ON SOME ROADWAYS AND SIDEWALKS. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY

ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...SLOW DOWN AND

ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.

Don't think they know what's gonna happen so there playing it safe warning the possibility of everything.

Good luck over there y'all, hope you score big. You guys have been on the short end of these storms over the last few years.

Got one question. Looking to buy some land over there in the next few years and looking for at least 3500ft with a spot that scores with upslope and avoids the warm nose during Miller a storms. What would you guys suggest? I looked around Mtn city but there is not much there. Need to be no more than about 30 min from a hospital so my wife can have a job. Also looked around 26 near the line around Sam's gap, that area might work.

Head to the banter thread, I'll reply there.

0z NAM hi-res snow totals, close up.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That is a serious band through Hawkins and Sullivan counties. Very similar to the event last year in which JC was blanked. Don't think that happens this time, but a huge difference from one side of I-81 to the other certainly wouldn't surprise me.

TRI is down to 16 already with clear skies. Forecast is 13.
