CT Rain
Depends. In the modern era, you could include most areas that aren't radiators like BOS/coast etc. Yup... record cold 850 T will do that!
CT Rain
Yeah BOS and GON certainly top 3 event. I think every story should be how this was historical in all of SNE. Just because a valley like BDL can get to -25 on a clear calm night doesn't mean that it's colder. This was a historical airmass. One we won't see again in our lifetimes anyway. No this is wrong for Groton. 17 colder mornings at the airport... 1 -14.0 1961-01-22 2 -13.0 1982-01-18 - -13.0 1961-01-28 4 -12.0 1965-02-04 5 -11.0 1984-01-22 - -11.0 1981-01-12 - -11.0 1979-02-14 - -11.0 1965-01-18 9 -10.0 1982-01-11 - -10.0 1981-01-11 - -10.0 1980-12-26 - -10.0 1979-02-12 - -10.0 1978-02-05 - -10.0 1962-12-31 15 -9.0 1996-02-05 - -9.0 1967-02-13 - -9.0 1961-02-

HoarfrostHubb
Think what we can say is for the hill towns of SNE this was a top 1-3 event . Hill towns can only do this with big CAA For the radiators it wasn't top 5.. Since they make fake cold quite often like this. But for places like ORH, TOL, MPM.. This was a top event This hill town got colder last year

ORH_wxman
This is a top 3 event at ORH/BOS. At least in the past 80 years or so. Hard to rate 1934 against this since ORH and BOS didn't have their current sites.
Damage In Tolland
This hill town got colder last yearBut you have the ability to radiate there in that elevated valley. Places like here or ORH which are basically the highest point locally don't.
powderfreak
Wachusett lifts still not going We've managed to thaw everything except the FourRunner Quad at this point. Really warming up in the sun. Up to -22F with a wind chill of only -60F instead of -75 or -80. Brutal cold never looked so nice. With only two feet of snow on the ground, still setting daily record low snow depths.

eekuasepinniW
Fancy engineered plans with exact heat loss calculations and baseboard requirements. And they're not even close. Not enough baseboard to get the temp past 66 in here. I'm freezing and absolutely livid. Low of -13.8 -15 for LCI

Radiators don't need this cold to really plummet as we all know. Right..-25 is still -25. But without the 40-50mph wind gusts we had last night, it's different. That same airmass where a radiator can decouple to -25 wouldn't sniff this airmass.

Radiators don't need this cold to really plummet as we all know. We could always just go the windchill route...these airmasses absolutely blow away the -25 radiator lows when it comes to windchills....and you often get record low maxes in these types of airmasses whereas the radiator airmasses you rarely get them. You'll go from like -25 to a high of 15 or something.

HoarfrostHubb
Wind chills don't effect houses and chairlifts.
