weathermedic
NYC OEM reporting Upton saying this morning's high tide was approx 1 foot higher than they originally had forecasted. Lots of flooding in the Rockaways (approx 1ft and up to 2 feet in a few spots) Tides receding now. Let's see what they do with the evening's high tide cycle for the south shore areas. Guest Pamela
Between evaporational cooling and an extremely strong & persistent flow pulling down some very cold air down out of Eastern New England and the Canadian Maritime Provinces...the air temperature at WSO Upton has plummeted from 36 F to 28 F over the last 4 hours...with some very good snows falling at present out over Long Island. SnowGoose69
Mod snow now. Is there a band developing over us? Temps down to 33 from 37 30 mins ago I think dry air to the west again causing mesoscale banding features to form, its not unusual for the western side of a system to see that. Poker2015
Is the band going to set up in a North/South direction, East/West, or what kind of angle? or is that unknown too

CIK62
Surface center near 37N 68W @979mb, but 850mb low supporting it, is about 160 miles due west 37N 71W. Maybe it can pull it back west some, otherwise it is going to miss the BM by 200miles or more. Decent wet snow falling here. Sandy Hook tidal flood info. Looks like this mornings high tide exceeded the prediction. http://hudson.dl.stevens-tech.edu/sfas/d/index.shtml?station=N021
IsentropicLift
I would rather be Northeast of where the IT looks to be setting up at this range, they historically end up further NE than modeled. Regarding today, few people West of the city will see more than flurries, and West of EWR will probably see nothing.

Guest Pamela
With a sea surface temperatures on the Long Island Sound of 4 C to 7 C...and 850 mb temperatures @ -5 to -8 C....you are looking at a potential delta of, at times, in excess of 12 C...which leads to conditionally unstable air and definite enhancement of snow as the northeast winds continue to whip off the Sound. Sock Puppet
even though the radar is showing basically nothing over Red Hook (Extreme west Brooklyn) we're getting light snow. Looks like it's receding back east now
EasternLI
I think you could see a BLIZZARD warning this afternoon . I wouldn't rule it out. Biggest question is the wind (as usual). Some decent gusts where I am, but nothing too crazy. Too bad these systems didn't phase, that would have really been something to see.
