NycStormChaser
I've spent the past few weeks studying light pollution maps. Usually I go shoot the Milky Way up in the Catskills or down near ocean city or Avalon NJ where it's dark. But I noticed a small area of Sandy Hook that appeared darker on the map. This isn't the best shot but you can see the Milky Way wedged between the light pollution of NYC and the Jersey Shore. This was today around 5am. WinterWxLuvr
I would love to know how, in layman's terms, how a photo like that is made. Spectacular.
masomenos
Incredible shot. You really ought to submit that to some kind of media outlet! Caption it "Tunnel to the Milky Way" or something corny like that. lol. Having lived in that area for a brief time, I definitely noticed the "dark spot" on clear nights when I was at the beach. The overwhelming light from the city and the naval station combined with the uninhabited stretch of Sandy Hook makes for some nice contrast in the night sky.
