osfan24
I thought hrrr and rap both did a pretty good job with the blizzard. They were probably both a bit heavy on accumulations but it did a decent job. Accumulations weren't that far off in the end and it did a good job depicting the areas that would see the heaviest snows.

Ian
I often think we'd be better off not considering SREF. For one it's going to miss the sharp cutoff. For two, Boxing Day.
CAPE
Sub 32F temps are only 400mi away in Ohio. Itshappening? "The storm will generate its own cold air" No really, in this case it will(or wont). Its dynamical cooling or bust. Simple as that. High bust potential for sure. mitchnick
Iad sounding at 7pm. Wet bulb temps below freezing from around 950mb and above. That should be shallow enough after a relatively brief period. Plus temps have continued to cool and dry since 7pm. http://vortex.plymouth.edu/cgi-bin/upa/gen-raobplt.cgi?id=KLWX&pl=out1b&cu=la&pt=parcel&size=640x480&pg=web

But my dp is 37, and its been showering on and off here. Hopefully some colder/drier air will advect in later and help the process.
