Syrmax
12Z GooFuS and NAM...Lulz. Board the Ark! Unless you're in Buffalo...what a kick in the gonads this could be... Time to whip out that old coastal weenie-ism about how slp's never ever ride up the spine of the apps...I don't usually like to stoop to those levels but I'm willing to compromise what little integrity I have left. BuffaloWeather
Going to be very close if there is enough cold air. It's a warm cutting system. Very small area will receive the snow. Low margin of error. . The euro has shown a consistent apps cutter for the last week. It's only varied slightly over New York State. Look at that blocking on Euro, this thing is going to be an inland runner 100%.

We will definitely be getting more synoptic chances late month into next. This is textbook set-up for large systems. Althought we still don't have the NAO help, but maybe the AO to grab us some cold air.

lakeeffectkid383
Agree with Rich, YYZ jackpot with this one. Could be one of those events where IAG sees +SN and 32 where ELZ Is 45 and +RA. Always fun to see where the rain/snow line is.
LakeEffectKing
Uncle Ukie has been SUPER consistent with someone from SYR westward getting a lot of snow....just sayin'....tonight's 00z runs will probably get a better sample of the second impulse in the flow....it is an important part of the equation with regard to the downstream initial wave.... I haven't added it up lately but I think I'm around 50-55" for the season. We've missed the biggest LES just to my north but have had 2 or 3 decent events...without which I'd be sitting at <6" for the season. My 10 yr avg is 130" IIRC so we are way below, but others have had it much worse (hello Albany and Binghamton), so I can't complain.

cleetussnow
From what I can tell of the euro, it follows the GFS track. I can't see some of the critical hours but extrapolating, they are in good agreement, as is the cmc. Rain for most on all three models, and a lot of it. BuffaloWeather
Euro has 1.1" of QPF for Buffalo falling all as snow. Would be a pretty big event if that would to occur.
BuffaloWeather
Watertown NY set a monthly record for February low temperature this morning going back to when they started taking records at the airport in 1949. It got down to -37 !! That is not even close to the New York State record however which was set in none other than Old Forge when it got down to −52 °F / −46 °C February 18, 1979
