FWIW, the CPC just issued its 3 month outlook yesterday that covers March, April, and May. The outlook calls for increased chances for above normal temps in the Mid-Atlantic region and average to perhaps slightly above average chances for precipitation. While I enjoy a good snowstorm, unless it's big enough to shut down the federal government, I'm ready for spring. Wish I could have above normal temps in March, normal in April, and near to slightly below normal in May (and have well below normal temps June - August... oh how I loathe summer heat & humidity in this miserable swamp that is Washington, DC). Instead with my luck we'll probably have the opposite.

Was it? I don't remember it being that warm until the beginning of April (when temps went straight to 90F and stayed for the next 6 months). Of course, it didn't snow after Feb. 10.

It wasn't record breaking but it was a pretty good departure at the airports. That month kicked off the three years of torcherous hell here.

Unless the cold leads to a snowstorm or ice storm big enough to shut the federal government down, I'm anxious for spring to arrive. It was wonderful to go out for a run both Saturday morning and this afternoon instead of settling for the awful treadmill. I have the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run and a half marathon in the next 10 weeks, so bring on spring!
