Cashtown_Coop
Anyone know why CTP trimmed back the ice accumulation amounts for Harrisburg area from .10 to .25 to <.10 as of 6 pm? Mason Dixon putting up a good fight. I assume this is from blending WFO's maps. No good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Santa Clause
19.6 imby. I don't see how we get 2 of snow(almost have it,) and that little of ice unless huge temp bump comes.
mahantango#1
For years I've vehemently defended CTP on these boards. I'm wondering if their date backed out and they're late for the dance tonight. i think they are late for the dance.
paweather
I've been in a lull for about 90 minutes and my temp has gone up almost 2 degrees. Wind is still out of the NE though...The key to an ice storm will be how long we stay in a lull before the next batch of precip starts.
AMDEW80
^ I would guess just the precipitation is lacking for mdt area while the temp stays below freezing??? As others have said looks like a lull for a while.... the temps are not budging too fast now, but wonder how long it can hold on.
Superstorm93
I am absolutely shocked that CTP hasn't upped ice totals and changed us all to an ice storm warning, or at least a freezing rain advisory. They'll probably do it at 2 AM when everyone's asleep.Heavy duty accumulations are supposed to occur around 11-2am so they're kinda a bad place right now Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

Jmister
Bit of a lull here right now but roads are already a nightmare after ~1" of fluff so far. Thoughts on the rest of the storm out this way Jmister? It looks like cold air will hold later than expected throughout the whole region. The precip will be scattered until closer to 2-3am and there will be patches of sleet and freezing rain. I think wherever those heavier patches hit could see significant icing (>0.25"). As the heavy precip moves in, temperatures will rise above freezing. Probably near daybreak in the UNV area. I'm keeping a close eye on temperatures using wunderground's Wundermap http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/

I-83 BLIZZARD
Temp dropped to 23 from 24. Heading in the wrong direction. I am sure temps will improve but not fast. Morning commute will still be treacherous until some heavy rain can warm the surface mid morning.
anotherman
The scary part is many people see the high temperature for tomorrow and assume they will wake up to clear roads and no problems.
MillvilleWx
Got light ZR in the HGR area. Temp still holding at 24. Band(s) of steadier freezing rain running straight up 81 from VA. Glazed over completely. Just waiting on steadier stuff now. Good luck everyone!

CarlislePaWx
As of 9:00pm my snowfall has ended as a mixture of sleet and light freezing rain has begun. Just before the sleet started I took my snowfall measurement which came out to 1.7". It melted down to 0.20" of liquid. There was obviously some sleet and zr that made its way in before I melted. I know the ratio of the pure snow had to be at least 10:1. Now the real fun begins. Temp, after bottoming out at 20.9 is beginning to slowly rise and is back up to 22.4. We've still got 10 more degrees to go before it's no longer freezing rain. I'll be watching carefully and will make a note of the total liquid at the moment the temp hits 32.0 degrees, which as I said earlier I do not feel will occur until well after dawn. NWS says between 2 and 3am for me. I say they're wrong by at least 4 hours. Let's see what happens.

I-83 BLIZZARD
They are going have to extend advisories until at least 10:00 am. LWX has them until that time. This won't thaw out that fast even when temps hit 32. Will take at least a few hours of above freezing temps to start to improve conditions.
