The BAVFC with assistance from the Aberdeen Fire Department, Inc.,Abingdon Fire Company, and Harford Co TRT worked a roof collapse at the Safeway store on BrierHill Drive All occupants have been accounted for, no injuries. There is a significant compromise of the roof in the produce section of the store. The roof has buckled down from the front to the rear but has not opened. FD has shut off all utilities. No other exposure buildings are involved. RG

Mega band of death sinking south from Baltimore/Howard and should be in DC around 515pm. Currently at 22 inches so this will put me above 24 inches and then my next goal is 28 inches to equal 1922 storm.

You think it will make it down through MoCo and DC?

I cleared a spot on the deck @1:30 and just measured 5 inches there.   Some snow probably blew in, but it has been snowing with among the best rates of the storm the last couple of hours.

The spot that has been my average measurement for the storm and was tracking pretty well with other reports has 33", which roughly tracks, but just can't believe that total!  Took a few other trips around the yard and have between 27 and and 35.

Going to call it a nice even 30 and look for spotter reports :sled:

Biggest storm in the 20 years I have lived here....and still going :)

96 is great and covered a wider area, but it had sleet for a few hours and/or lull, etc.  this i stayed on the fringe during the downtime which probably helped, but after taking a walk just now i can confirm that is also my favorite storm.  i haven't been through one like this around here.  this beats feb 10.

Yeah, did not mix once. For some reason, that is a big deal to me. Took some of the luster off of PD 2 and, even to a certain extent, 1996. Part of the reason I love Dec 2009 and the first Feb 2010 storm was neither mixed (at least IMBY). This one hasn't either (unless it occurred between 2 and 6 this morning but I've no reason to believe it did in upper NW).

Lull was irritating while it lasted but this afternoon has just been astonishing.

Although I'd take a little mixing now if we could keep this going until midnight.

I could believe it.

I recorded 22-1/2" at 12:30 -- and that was on the side of my house and possibly shielded somewhat (wanted to measure in the backyard, but I couldn't get there!). We've had a couple of very heavy, sustained bands since.
