EHoffman
This is the one. Favorite storm of all time. I didn't live here in 96 but I doubt I would have appreciated that storm like I have this one. It's one for the ages. My interest in long lead tracking is over this year. Most exhausting and enjoyable week of my weather nerd life. This is the best storm to ever hit DC. This is everybody on the board's GOAT storm. Ltrain
Hey I'm wondering what you guys in Anne Arundel County are measuring because I keep taking measurements and I'm still only getting 14". I know that can't be right because under this band I know I've picked up a couple inches at least. Maybe it's the blowing and the drifitng messing things up. kurtstack
I truly have no way to measure at this point. And really I don't care. This is my new favorite storm of all time. The rates, winds, drifts, and duration are all up there. The only slight negative was the AM lull today, but we more than made up for that. Enjoy all. Looking forward to the spotter reports. osfan24
So as of like 2 hours ago, this storm got legit. I get why the western burbs were getting such a great storm. It's snowing 1-2 inches per hour and the wind is whipping like crazy. A literal whitout. Can't see 20 feet ahead of you. Man, if only we had gotten 24 hours of this. Awesome! Plowable
Everyone need to click this link and watch the last few frames off VA beach. SLP tucks in and is just starting to crawl out http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/data/us_comp/us_comp_big.html Very cool almost hard to fathom the sheer size of that storm. The Dude
Just got in from shoveling with the kids. We're up to 25" on the snow board (11.5" when I cleared last night at 2:30 and 13.5" when I cleared 30 minutes ago). Snow depth is generally around 23.5". We got around 1/2" in 15 minutes while we were out there. It's a beautiful snow globe right now. Winds have been surprisingly light. We've had some decent gusts, but I was expecting (fearing) more. MacintoshPro
28 (DC) 20.5 (DC) 18.7 (DCA) 17.8 (DCA) 17.1 (DCA) 16.7 (DCA) 16.6 (DCA) 16.4 (DCA) Should be at least 4 unless it just shuts off now.
mitchnick
Feb 2010... They were on it for a week. Both of them they had a big storm, absolutely but this storm's strength and snowfall amounts were much better modeled with this one
ThePhotoGuy
Still heavy snow here for the past hour or so. We couldn't get in our backyard because of the fence. Our back door was blocked by a 3-4 foot drift, opened the door just a little. Poured some hot water underneath and helped melt the snow until I was able work myself out. Pretty awesome experience! umdterps29
Hey I'm wondering what you guys in Anne Arundel County are measuring because I keep taking measurements and I'm still only getting 14". I know that can't be right because under this band I know I've picked up a couple inches at least. Maybe it's the blowing and the drifitng messing things up. Measured 19.5" in Davidsonville. Was at 15" around 5am before entering the big lull and only picked up about an inch and a half after then before picking back up in the last hour and a half.
