Kat
I'm about 10 miles nw of DC and rest assured this is one of the bigger ones I've experienced. also DC will be back in the good bands soon. It's imminent. I agree. One of the best I've ever seen including 83, vet day, 96, and 2010. It's up there.

Grothar of Herndon
I have huge drifts on my roof. Very odd looking and not anything I've seen before. Official snow totals at the airports for yesterday: DCA 6.5" IAD 7.2" BWI 3.7" Only seen it once and was Blizzard of 1996.
vastateofmind
Man, hate that dry slot...looks like Ltrain got in it as well. I think the worm is about to turn for everyone in the dry slot. Hopefully can get some mega rates this afternoon and catch up I have had like a an inch since 9:30 am. This sucks. That dry slot sits right over me in Alexandria. 16.5 inches maybe. Been waiting for that worm to turn for at least two hours now....as H20 mentioned, this is not an unusual phenomenon for those of us living in the Franconia/Kingstowne/Mt. Vernon areas of SE FfxCo. Can't completely complain...it's been a fine pixie dust falling rather than flat-out lack of snow, but it's still a tad disappointing after seeing some of the model forecasts last couple of days. Still very happy about the 18"-19" I have....hoping to break 24" by midnight.
clskinsfan
12:15 update Extremely heavy snow (heaviest Ive ever seen) 22 degrees 31 inches total accum 10 inches in the last 3 hours and 15 minutes/ 16 inches in last 6 hours and 15 minutes....simply astounding This is the storm of my life. I had 36 inches with PD2. But I have never seen snowfall rates like this for this length of time. It has increased in intensity for the past couple of hours. Truly unbelievable. Some random thoughts on my latest Jebwalk: There are no more cars or mailboxes. They are just mounds of snow in a snow world. My neighbors 4 foot picket fence looks like its a foot tall. My bushes and shrubs do not exist anymore. My neighborhood looks like the arctic. My full size trash cans look like kitchen trashcans now. I forgot and left my wheelbarrow outside by my rear fence. I dont know when I will find it again. My elevated firepits do not exist. The roof drifts throughout my neighborhood are ridiculous.
hosj III
Lol at the people already proclaiming this thing non-historic. Its not anywhere close to over. It's pretty comparable to Dec 2009. Memorable storm but half a tier below 2010 and 1996.
haudidoody
Route 1 is moving decently in Alexandria... still some nice wind, but very light snow. Despite DCA's measurement, this is not yet at all close to Feb. '10.
BlizzardNole
For folks stuck under subsidence, I really feel for you. In the Jan 25, 2000 storm, I got stuck for hours with huge, stationary bands to my east and west. I even had a few breaks in the clouds while heavy snow was falling 20 miles in either direction! I ended up with seven inches while many places had 14-17" to my west, and of course the near 20" amounts near the Bay. I hope the main band consolidates and eventually passes through your areas. adelphi_sky
Guys the band is coming east. You can almost see where the yellows will set up. Yellows are showing up directly south of DC. Yellows NW of DC and the whole band to the NW is shifting SE. We're in for round 2, 3, or 15 for some of us. ETA: Or building to the SE. However you look at it. Ltrain
So NWS upped my range from 18-24 to 24-30. I don't see how that will happen given the break my area has been in since 5am
North Balti Zen
I have my part of Roland Park area balt city at 19" as of 12:10. The rates since 9:00 am were magnificent. Just went for a very difficult walk through a local school field - 2-3 foot drifts. Slacking off now - probably seeing some of that dry air that has plauged DC area this morning. Second bout with dry slot - had one from around 5-7 am that filled back in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
