smokeybandit
I wouldn't say AA Co has been ignored by the storm. There's 16" on the ground w higher drifts. And we were never forecast to be the jackpot zone. In relative terms, it has. Plus we were in the 18-24" zone, so still a chance to verify, but not yet . vastateofmind
18.5" tho. Good storm Had 6.5" last measurement last night Today I went to previously shoveled areas that were NOT corrupted by drifting. Taking between 10-20 readings the range was 11-14 with 12 the most common. So 18.5" My exact measurements as well. And I agree with you on banding history in this area, though I'm somewhat hopeful today with the dry slot filling in slightly over past half hour. winterymix
11:45, 26, -SN, 14.25". Definitely some compaction. I am also going to seek out new measuring locations as there is too much drifting where I am and I don't think I am getting a fully accurate reading. Need to verify? If I take a bunch of measurements in a park on grass, how much should I subtract? I hate measuring on grass. Take 10 measurements away from trees and buildings and without pushing down on the yardstick and go with the average.
RevWarReenactor
This is a good storm for I-95, but it seems the best action is north and west. It's a major storm for here, but its not 1996 historical. Snow up to about my knees. Historical is up to my waist. Do we get there at I-95? That seems to be the big question. HRRR says yes. I have my doubts.

DCWeatherGuy
This is been a strange event for me in NW DC. When people say it's ripping like crazy around DC, I look outside...and it's snowing moderately. Then people say DC is dry-slotting, and I look outside and...it's snowing moderately. I really haven't seen very many of these wild swings that others are describing. It's been a slow and steady pile up for us. I think we've missed the best of it, and we won't match 2010 totals IMBY, but we're over 17 and on our way to 20+ I think.
