winterymix
To be scientific as possible, It is snowing like twelve angry bastards here in Reisterstown. At or about 20 inches.

Bob Chill
Last frames on radar show the pull to the south. The dryslot should start filling in and moving east now. Next couple hours should be good through the corridor
North Balti Zen
Up to 17 inches in Roland park are balt city - two inches since last measurement around 9:30. Best rates at my neighborhood of the storm last hour - much better flake size. Anyone else from this part of city with similar numbers? What is bwi at? stormtracker
Radar says it should be barely snowing here, but it's really coming down right now. I'd be happy with this rate for another seven hours or so. More would be better, too. Thats what Im noticing, lol. Radar says its light or nothing and its coming down really nice right now. mattb65
I had cleared part of our walkway earlier this morning. Seems I've picked up another inch so I'd say I'm sitting around 19" on the event now. Can any Silver Spring people or Bob Chill confirm you're in this neighborhood? Actually...Bob may be ahead now since he was closer to the persistent heavies to the west. EDIT: I see Bob has 20" I measured around 16-20" on the ground about an hour and a half ago. Seems consistent with your measurement

mattie g
Lightest snow since yesterday morning. Waiting (im)patiently for the bands to swing through. Rightly or wrongly, if I don't beat Feb 5-6, then I'm going to be a bit disappointed.

I've gotten a little more than an inch since 8:30, and I was around 18" then. I'm south of Colesville, though. Right around the Beltway.
WxUSAF
You have to have more after getting those deathbands earlier. Maybe a little more. It's not more than 18" for sure. Could be as low as ~15". I haven't taken any measurements though so who knows. Nearby PWS has 1.49" liquid. That could be low actually, but we mixed from about 5am-630am and didn't really add anything in that time. Mostly had small flakes today outside of some of the heavier bands. SpringfieldSkins
It's not like the rates are bad IMBY, it's just not 100 yd visibility with snowball sized flakes. Tucker says the bands will be pulled SE. Thanks Tucker...
Kmlwx
Also looks like gravity waves again if you look in that dry area just south of DC
GirlForAllSeasons
I know people are nervous near the city, but I really think we'll be ok...that stuff out west should pull back over us Has the upper level low consolidated with the surface low pressure yet? Doesn't the upper level Need to rotate over out area still?

WVclimo
Just took a walk across the property. On the level, snow comes about 3-4" above my knees. In a couple of spots where the wind has collected it, it is to my waist. I am six feet tall. Under 1/8 mi visibility here most of the past three hours. Radar looks great. EHoffman
DC proper folk will be fine, you can already see the precip backbuilding to the east. It's just a bit of a dry pocket.
clueless
I am well over 2 feet at this point. I wont measure again until 12. I would not even know where to start to measure at this point. It is pretty overwhelming.
Alcoholhelps
Interesting. It's barely precipitating imby currently. We must be close based on your location. I need a magnifying glass to see the snow falling right now. Errrr!

We're waiting for the surface low to get past our latitude so the pivot could start sweeping northwest to southeast

jacindc
Agreed. I just went to measure and it was borderline mod snow. Looks like it is calming down though...for now... Congrats, Bob! I hope to join you in this club soon! A little slower here than a few minutes ago, but still not bad. And I do see the radar shifting south probably just enough to get me into the heavier stuff, and probably you too (I'm a block north of 395).
