Wind had calmed a bit but still heavy snow with fat flakes.

Little weenie band over the beaches from Captree west. That band over NYC is pretty persistent, and I could see several more inches at least there. Pointed directly from LGA through Manhattan to Staten Island/Newark. Hopefully that pivots southeast, rooting for everyone to hit 24" at least. 

I am 7 miles due north of Captree (Long Island)... that little weenie band sat over my house for 2.5 hrs and dropped 6" of snow...

I think it will be a good 4, but since the Boston area is getting a glancing blow, I don't think it will be a 5. 

 

This will rate a 4. Think it will overtake Presidents' Day because that effected Boston?

it's crazy how long this thing might want to stay.that low is in no hurry at all and that feed off the ocean is vicious,still puking snow across the whole city right now.!!!

This might be my top storm.  '93 and '96 were amazing, but the winds and snow here along the water have been incredible.

Just went to walk the dog with my dad. The snow and wind is absolutely incredible. Visibility went down to 0 at one point. I don't think I've ever seen it snow this hard. Ever. We probably picked up over 2" in 45 minutes.

Yup. They're right near Elizabeth which I know from folks nearby has areas well at 2 feet. Chunks of Union County just south of it have between 23 and 27 inches already.

I agree. Not just heavy, but continuously so!! Sunup to sundown and it hardly let up. Still ripping now and wind is still howling!

Surprised no one mentioned this: Special Statement from Upton bands of 2-3 Inches an hour in the 5 borough till 8p may result in a nadditional 4-6 inches for KNYC, we are in play for the record boys & girls!!!

radar echoes just firing thru the city into union and somerset counties. unreal crush job all day there.

They are in the sound enhanced band. I think they break the record. This band is 2" an hour and they're likely at 22"-23" right now.
