Rittenhouse
What did NYC pull in 1888? I know up the coast in CT there were a number 45-55" totals. I remember pics of enormous drifts in NYC from that. 21" -- though I've always wondered about the accuracy of those old measurements. Top 10: 1. 26.9 February 11-12, 2006 2. 25.8 December 26-27, 1947 3. 21.0 March 12-14, 1888 4. 20.9 February 25-26, 2010 5. 20.2 January 7-8, 1996 6. 20.0 December 26-27, 2010 7. 19.8 February 16-17, 2003 8. 19.0 January 26-27, 2011 9. 18.1 January 22-24, 1935 March 7-8, 1941 10. 18.0 December 26, 1872

WintersGrasp
Are these models accounting for this dry slot folks are talking about?Looking at the radar, it doesn't appear that there will be any prolonged dry slot.....probably just lighter snow in between the heavier bands. If it does let up, I doubt it will be for long. The heavier snow around Trenton is now pulling up NE and filling that area in. This is what separates run of the mill storms from the truly special ones. Rather than an area of precip just moving East, it is developing overhead; popping up like spring thunderstorms
OSUmetstud
Transitioned to real tiny/fine flakes here in UES Manhattan. Seem to have lost the really good snow growth for a time period. Maybe this is the 1/2 dry slot at 500mb that is discussed above? Hoping it picks back up soon! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think so. I don't think it will stop snowing by any means, but keep in mind the dendritic cystal growth zone is between 700 and 500mb,,,so if u dry out above 700, u might be getting crappy flake production even with good omega. Thanks! Pretty sure that's what's happening but I don't expect it to last for long especially as this CCB sets up and rotates back through the heart of the city.
