moneypitmike
As I mentioned in the other thread I am in Brattleboro and now have sunglasses on watching the wall of clouds retreat south. 21F Keep them handy for the ride home. I love that radar loop, Will--what a wall that's hitting. While some minor placement changes, the general appeal of that wall was steadfastly modeled. ct_yankee
Been snowing good for hours here in New Haven. I drove to Westbrook this morning, left HVN at 7:30 just as the first flakes were falling, by the time I got back home an hour and a half later, it was already treacherous driving with several inches on the ground. No problem with virga here, we seem to be getting what the radar is showing. Just went for a walk... Heavy snow and windy: you definitely know you're in a major snowstorm. The 4 Seasons
.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...ONE INTENSE SNOW BAND MOVED THROUGH NYC AND LONG EARLIER...AND ISNOW IN THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND SOUTHERN CT. ADDITIONAL BANDSOF HEAVY SNOW CONTINUE TO FORM OFFSHORE AND LIFT UP INTO THE AREAATTM...THEN BANDING TO THE WEST OVER PA SHOULD PIVOT THROUGH LATERTODAY INTO THE EVENING. EXPECT SNOWFALL RATES OF 1-2 INCHES TOCONTINUE IN/NEAR MOST OF THE BLIZZARD WARNING AREA THROUGH THEDAY...WHICH IN TANDEM WITH ACCUMULATIONS ALREADY AROUND A FOOT INNYC SHOULD LEAD TO ACCUMULATIONS MOSTLY IN THE 20-25 INCH RANGEFOR LONG ISLAND...NYC...SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER/FAIRFIELD...ANDNORTHEAST NJ...AND EASILY MAKE THIS A TOP TEN SNOWSTORM FOR NYC.THE ALL TIME RECORD OF 26.9 INCHES LOOKS SAFE FOR THE TIMEBEING...BUT ULTIMATELY THAT WILL DEPEND ON THE DURATION ANDINTENSITY OF BANDING MOVING THROUGH LATER TODAY.IN BETWEEN BANDS OF HEAVIER SNOW...SOME GRAUPEL OR SLEET HASALREADY BEEN OBSERVED AND COULD BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE EVENT.
