Fozz
I was just going to suggest a thread like this. Let's keep all the amazing images and memories of this storm in here so we can easily come back to it.

NorthArlington101
I have a decent chunk of some of the free snow totals maps going back a week. I'll try and get those off of my phone and put them in an album at some point.

mitchnick
Just a reminder. Although this site doesn't have every reporting station, it has the main ones. Just change the station name on the url at the end of the address. AND, you can go back 6 days and get every GFS forecast. It's pretty cool to see how rock solid the GFS was. This is BWI. http://wxweb.meteostar.com/sample/sample.shtml?text=KBWI

Bob Chill
I uploaded this loop to Youtube. It's so cool to see how the leading shortwave that dropped an inch and destroyed a commute set the stage for a cold storm. Just a beautiful loop. One for the books. https://youtu.be/m5SRBhKirrQ
Chinook
I made this radar loop so that we would be able to see the storm's features from start to finish. It starts January 22, 0018z, which is when it was transitioning to being a snowstorm for some areas of the South. http://www.greatlakes.salsite.com/Blizzard_of_2016_radar_loop.html
Bob Chill
Awesome. Do you have a visible satellite loop too? I posted this in another thread. I uploaded the loop to YouTube. https://youtu.be/m5SRBhKirrQ
Juliancolton
Good stuff. I put together a WV loop earlier, if anybody's interested.
Ian
I saved the full LWX doppler for it. I need to figure out how to put it together and where to save it since it'll be huge.

Amped
Here's the Iowa state site national loop that doesn't jump everywhere. You can mess with the settings as desired. https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/current/mcview.phtml?prod=usrad&java=script&mode=archive&frames=50&interval=60&year=2016&month=1&day=22&hour=0&minute=

Ian
Awesome loop Ian. This thread is great. Can you animate an h5 re-analysis? Here are inititalizations of the GFS.. should be as good (think that's what most reanalysis is these days anyway). Grabbed so much model stuff in leadup. Still going thru tidbits etc pulling things. snowfan
This is great. It was a lot of fun staying up Friday night talking w folks here as the band's kept moving into the area from the se. Some of those bands were really great.
Ian
We have so much more data access now than even 09-10. I have a folder with 483 images in it so far. Saved every Euro run at 500mb, sfc plus precip/snow for past week.. precip/snow for GFS. I've been in a number of big storms now but I think this one is near the top. Walking around today I think I must have undermeasured... worse than Snowmageddon by a bit at least.
Bob Chill
That h5 loop is a 10 second clinic of exactly what to look for if you like big snowstorms. I love the trajectory overhead and off the coast. So sweet for our latitude
87storms
That h5 loop is a 10 second clinic of exactly what to look for if you like big snowstorms. I love the trajectory overhead and off the coast. So sweet for our latitude The broadness of that upper low and the fact that it went under us seems like it allowed us to tap into the gulf and Atlantic and stay on the cold side throughout which is not easy to do here. This was a hecs thru and thru. Looking at the energy as it entered the west coast it didn't look all the special but it had all the right ingredients feeding it I guess.
