NCWX
Looks like we are done here near ILM 2.36 inches of rain, getting windy. But I can see a few breaks in the clouds.
lilj4425
Guys picked up 2-3 inches of fluffy snow over the past 2 hours from that band in Oconee /Pickens counties. It was fantastic. Now if we had had those conditions last night it would have been EPIC! The same band is coming through here right now.
SN_Lover
I am pretty sure this is the deformation band that is setting up. Slowly going to push East.
lookingnorth
The NWS says it's currently 61 degrees at Cape Hatteras. That's a whole lot warmer than the 26.4 degrees here in Chapel Hill.
Iceagewhereartthou
I'd say that is about it for me. The rest of the stuff over the mtns will never make it here. Ended up with a good finale though, nice to see a pretty snowfall. I'll never forget taking my 2 year old son out to play in it tonight and watching him watch it for the first time! superjames1992
Down to 22 now. 2m temps were a lot colder than were forecasted. CAD never wears down at the surface as fast as the models indicate...

GlaringSun
I'm under a small snow band right now. The radar looks like it's going to dry up at 1-2am.. Anyone disagree with this or is this what I should expect?
Snow dog
snowing heavily - most snow I've seen with this storm LOL - probably have picked up an inch in the past 30 min Wonder if we should expect some of the showers to our west to make it into here around midnight? SN_Lover
10pm report: Ack! Moderate zr now. 32. I'm too far east! Um, you think that's bad. Try going outside and thinking it was snow from a DEFORMATION band to get freezing rain.
skbl17
Spoke too soon in the banter thread; had big fat flakes coming down in Dunwoody. It's sticking to bushes and rooftops. 30.9.
downeastnc
heard a few rumbles of thunder under this line of storms in eastern NC, winds turning NW as it passes, should be interesting to see what the temps do.....currently 41/41 had almost 2.5" of rain since 11 am.... StormyClearweather
What a lovely finale! Moderate snow falling with a temp of 28. I haven't measured, but we have easily picked up an inch or so thus far from this band. Hope everybody gets a similar (or better) ending.
norcarolinian
it's rare that I can't stand outside for more than 5 minutes because the wind is so cold ...

snowinnc
I am seriously so over sleet right now. I don't know how much we've gotten, at least 2" I would think, with only about 30 minutes of snow mixed in. Is one inch of snow too much to ask? Sleet is just annoying. All our kiddos want to do is build a snowman. Their sleetman didn't come together so well today. More sleet and zr in NW Raleigh now
GlaringSun
Snow is truly accumulating now and I plan to stay up quite awhile to see this thing play out. Feel like we'll get atleast .5 inches of accumulation here.

But it's compacted, so it'll take longer to melt.
chapelhillwx
Can't believe this-- winding down to light snow now but measured 3.4" in the last two hours.
EmersonGA
Close enough to call it an inch now and it's still coming down pretty good. It will be a pretty one too since its sticking to everything. The skunk is off.

Yeah, we've got to have around 4" of sleet here, and I expect it's going to stick around for days, especially with tomorrow and Sunday looking pretty cold (though Sunday will be sunny, so that will help the melting). I made some huge sleet piles when I was shoveling the driveway earlier that should be around for weeks.
El Kabong
I certainly don't have any amazing accumulations to report, but I'm probably one of the few posters who saw a drop of 30° who is now experiencing snow flurries! I was at 69° earlier this afternoon...I'm now reporting light snow flurries and 39° here in central Georgia.

LOL that's the only reason I shovel and I go toward shadey side of driveway so it will hang around longer.
