Ltrain
The radar makes be believe it. Absolutely floored. Humbled again.. Me and you in AA county look to be in the yellows for awhile.
Scarlet Pimpernel
Moderate to heavy snow here. 4.8" at around 8pm. Getting pretty brisk out.
PhineasC
If the storm kicks out a bit further east, that area will too. Just my guess based on what I see. I hope so because it does get old seeing the same places jackpot and there are far fewer people there anyway; a jackpot over DC would satisfy a lot more weenies and the guys on the ridges wouldn't miss it much as high winds whip their 20 inches of snow all over the place. Eskimo Joe
Sleet hasn't progressed north....last couple of frames of the loop show it collapsing slightly. DC/NOVA will be all snow. FYI - PL = Plain Rain....don't give people heart attacks. Sleet = IP.

RichmondTarHeel
Our development is already snow blowing and shovelling but I think I got a decent measurement of between 4.5" and 5.5" in Herndon. Anyone else in my area that can confirm? Maybe out in Sterling (I'm right on the Loudon line)?

PhineasC
Agree with Chill. During these storms in the past, the pingers showed up turning the height as the low passed nearby. They clear out once the low moves away and pulls cold air behind it. Too early for pingers DC and north.
BTRWx
RadarScope, costs like $10 but it's worth it. If you want free, go with anything that has NWS base radar available. The one I used to use was RadarNow.
yoda
HRRR keeps upping the game. 20"+ the next 15 hours for 95 corridor. More for NoVA. HRRR has been doing that for the past few runs

umdterps29
Back to baby flakes in Davidsonville (SW AA County) but based on radar it looks like that will be changing very soon
CoastalWx
thanks! It basically means the radar is seeing more and more dendrites and not crummy flakes or mixed precip.
Kevin Riley
Well he is in Chesapeake away from the water Believable as I work in Norfolk and it got a quick 1-2 but I live at the Beach and snow quickly turned to rain and sleet so freezing rain may have happened, still waiting on the wind, Thought it would be cranking by now,
wxdude64
I'm in this, rates and flakes are most impressive.gonna measure in a sec. 4.5 new inches since it started snowing hard around 6:30, 11 on the ground now.
BTRWx
It could end up close...I don't mean the hinterlands way NW either. Agreed. Some of the analysis posts here with graphics looked pretty healthy to me near the Beltway for later on.
mitchnick
Just cleared a bit for the first time here over in Colgate. I'd say about 1.5" so farHmmm. That's on the low side. I'm probably around 2.5-3" now. I guess further west is the place to be.

CAPE
I'll let y'all know when its time to worry about sleet Right now its just puking heavy snow with a stiff NE wind. Gorgeous out there.
Ltrain
Hmmm. That's on the low side. I'm probably around 2.5-3" now. I guess further west is the place to be. I'm at 3.5" Mitch. Don't worry it looks like we are going to be hit hard for awhile. Just check out the stuff coming up east of DC. There is even heavier precip behind that. nj2va
4.5" Already very hard to measure so I'll be interested to see what others in Arlington and Alexandria are reporting. Drifts already starting to pile up.

09-10 analogy
4.75"-5" at 830. Snow is pretty dry. Winds are picking up a bit. Snow already has that "drifty" look.
