Kat
Anyone know how the nam is doing compared to the actual pressure drops off the coast? I here ppl talking about how it's spot on.
BTRWx
Ratios are not just about surface temp - it's more important about the temps upstairs and the dynamics (snow growth zone) Interesting point!
Kmlwx
I lulled for a while after hitting 3". Just took a bunch of measurements and a uniform 3.5" everywhere. Really starting to come down again. Looks like Wes is about to get into the goods too We should hopefully continue to be in lockstep with me a hair less than you throughout the storm. If you start to pull away from me that's when I'll start to become an angry astronomer

Kmlwx
Interesting point! I always bring that up because people assume that just because you have a really chilly temp at the surface that you should be getting great ratios but this is often not the case

Random Chaos
I was told winds would not increase until after 8pm. Why is it happening so early? I am getting 19mph winds right now. This is nothing compared to what we will get when the winds kick up tonight. It's that the snow is so light and fluffy, even 5mph winds will blow it. phil882
I'm really jealous for you guys... the latest HRRR run basically shows the dream scenario for DC and DC suburbs where an intense frontogenetical band sets up and pivots right over KIAD and points SW-NE. Easy to see where its 20" inch amounts are coming from the next 15 hours. URL: http://www.atmos.albany.edu/student/ppapin/hrrr.php#diag
