JonathanW
This first stuff is classic leading edge mid level WAA/fronto stuff as shown in SPC mesoanalysis. H7fronto.JPG However look SW. This is where our good theta-e injection is happening with good LLJ and WAA near 850. 850ADV.JPG This area will get entrained into the mid level circulations and aid in heavy snow later tonight and tomorrow as the 800-600 back bent WF develops. 7fronto.JPG With the dryslot moving in, as you can see by - LIs moving into the bay, there may be some TSSN in spots tomorrow..especially if the mid levels really go to town. TSSN.JPG ALl in all, I expect quite the wake up tomorrow in the DC=BWI area. Very nice post

Jebman
Wind is becoming more and more of a factor: 1) I am seeing more and more snow blowing off of houses now. 2) Drifting is increasing. Getting snow readings is an adventure. I was told winds would not increase until after 8pm. Why is it happening so early?
WeSuck
That band over/just south of Fredericksburg is legit. Moving north to DC
Kmlwx
Are you supposed to measure on pavement or grass? Neither. A snowboard is ideal but a surface like a walkway could be okay. Grass is even okay if you're careful not to drive your measuring stick into the ground.

Deck Pic
7pm ob- 3.8", 0.30" in the gauge. matches DCA and IADs precip number pretty well. Less than modeled by a bit, though it is notoriously hard to capture snow precip well in rain gauges. pretty close to Euro....
astarck
My folks texted me from Fredericksburg to say it's stopped doing anything yet radar says they should be getting hammered.

Kmlwx
Wonder what the ratios are. It's cold. Ratios are not just about surface temp - it's more important about the temps upstairs and the dynamics (snow growth zone)
