lilj4425
Dry slot, wet, whatever.... Doesn't matter when it's all rain. No it's worse than that. It's freezing rain. Ugh.
Brick Tamland
There is currently no dry slot. Calm down everyone. We have all day. That's what I am talking about. It just started here two hours ago. And now it is sleeting like crazy. Plus, I didn't have to go to work, so I call that a win.
mackerel_sky
They cancelled school for this? LOL.Don't worry, GSP update gives us 4-6" ! We're good! We're suppose to be getting freezing rain, but I'm at 33.1, so I'll let you know how that works out!

NCsandhills
Yeah, I think I'm done caring about what the models have to say anymore. I'll stick with the "conservative" Weather Channel and news stations, which are going to get it completely correct.

Jon
Massive dry slot in central NC...not filling in at all. No one saw that coming. How the hell do you have gulf AND Atlantic moisture and get a dry slot? That's not a dry slot.
Brick Tamland
Some folks need to read the storm discussion thread about the precip coming. Of course, I don't think it would matter to some since there are some complaining about the precip and calling it a bust right after a couple of others already explained the precip is still coming. BIG FROSTY
I called bust for my area last night before it started. when I saw line of T-Storms along the gulf!!! But it's cold
lilj4425
I should have listened to OconeeXman. I was really hoping the GFS and Euro would verify over that stupid NAM, but it's just not going to happen.

Mack, snow is expected due to wrap around moisture - not sure when that will begin - in Greenville County, everything south of downtown Greenville is primarily rain - I'm about 3 miles south of downtown Greenville - have had sleet and freezing rain this AM - trees lightly coated - had a sleet covered yard early this morning - now, slowly melting away

southernskimmer
We are going to rely on wrap around to get moisture. Which sucks because that never works out....
No snow for you
I'm at 32 and the trees here are already coated fairly well unfortunately. I am right there with you. I am 32 off of Augusta Road area. Freezing rain right now and already a coating on all the trees.
thess
I'm not normally a complainer, because frankly I don't understand enough of this stuff to complain, but I do notice that all of the 'mainstream' weather outlets I usually check had drastically reduced totals across the board when I woke up this morning. (Southpoint Durham area, we've lost everything on all sites but a couple of token <1" notes.) I'm curious to know what specifically happened to make them back off the the forecasts, but can't seem to find the clues in the main thread. I guess it's one of those 'it's just not happening' weather things? That said: It's been doing a mix of light snow/freezing rain down here since I woke up. Apartment complex roads and roofs are white or getting there. Some dusting on cars. Right now the windows are getting 'pinged'.

Brick Tamland
From the discussion thread: Calm down everyone check out Brad P's new vlog: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1011440545595068 It explains the situation well. Plus look at the radar back in MS/AL/ WGA it is filling in nicely. Nobody should be thinking this is a bust yet.
Jonathan
That's not a dry slot. Not per se, but either way, precip is hitting that gap (from the colder air coming down from the N I'm assuming?) and disappearing, so call it what you will I guess lol. Brick Tamland
And, this explains why he gets paid the big bucks to be a meteorologist, while the rest of us are modelologists. He did a great job explaining how the moisture will soon be blossoming over the western half of NC as the low transfers and wraps more moisture around from the cold high source to the north. The best is yet to come...

FLweather
For those complaing about the dryslot in NC. Its not a dryslot. The dryslot atm if you just look at WV loop is from NW Ga down into AL. Besides the main snow producer is the ULL over MS. Still plenty of time so dont jump off the cliff. http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecwv.html
