Winter Storm Obs 1/22-23

Well to be fair, we got our daytime snow earlier in the week.    I plan on spending plenty of time outside tonight under my deck with a beer in one hand and an LED flashlight in the other.

 

 

Ha!  I hear ya.  A buddy just stopped by with some Jägermeister, so I guess we'll be doing a shot or two while seeing what the security light is illuminating.  Here's to seeing something.

Just over an inch in Huntsville. Just a few flurries in the air now. 29degrees.

Potent snowfall for the last hour. 1.5 inches during that time. Temp has fallen to 29 degrees. It's something to behold.

Ha ha...  That is so funny.  Every since I was a kid if there was snow forecast I would almost literally stand outside late into the night to watch.  Most of my family never understood my obsession with the weather especially winter weather.

You guys will get some snow. It's a matter of wind direction and now they are in our favor. The last of the 850 warm nose is rapidly disappearing as the secondary low takes over and the upper feature moves through.

Nashville is still reporting moderate snow with .5 mile visibility. Also very windy there and in Clarksville.

LOL me too. Been pretty brutal to be in a dry slot all day with us having cold air and moisture go all around us.

Temp has dropped to 34F with mostly sleet and some snow falling now.  Seems to be gradually increasing.

Looks like one more dry slot to come then the flow turns northwest and we have multiple hours of snow on the back side of the system.

 

I've had about 5 inches today now and have about 9 or 10 on the ground.

A day long snowstorm.  Something sorely missed, and long overdue.

Same thing here.  Sleeted for a short time then over to snow.  There is still a lot of moisture upstream to the NW which is how our flow should orient overnight.  Should see long duration light snow event with moments of heavier snow off an on I would expect.

Ground is getting a decent coating of white and the roads are quickly becoming slushy.  Snow falling at a good clip, and temp has dropped to 32.8F

Yes, I noticed the strength of the radar returns aren't crazy impressive as earlier, but they are also in no hurry to move out.  Looks like an all night light snow.

My snow cake is getting bigger and bigger. Might be close to 13 inches as it hasn't stopped snowing all day and I measured 12 about 4 hours ago.

Still snowing here too in Cottontown, hard to tell how much we have anymore with the wind; not sure when last time was that I saw so much snow, I am betting it was as a kid in the 1970's
